I'm curious about this, because it helps us consider how many people we could pull into voting for our candidates in 2018.

(115,278 posts)Trump's election was a black swan event in the first place, and he's so unpredictable that conditions a year from now can't be even guessed at. Since presumably different people had different reasons for voting for him (hating Hillary; thinking he's going to bring back manufacturing jobs; voting GOP no matter what; racism/sexism/xenophobia; generalized fear; who knows what the hell else), any regrets they had would be based on whether they think he lived up to what they thought he was promising them. If their only intent was making sure Hillary didn't get elected and they don't care what else happened, they won't regret voting for him. If they believed his promise of bringing back the manufacturing jobs and coal mining, they probably will.
But if all kinds of very consequential shit hits the fan (trade war with China, pulling out of NATO, stock market crash?), all bets are off. I do recall that within a couple of years of Nixon's resignation it was very hard to find anybody who'd admit to having voted for him.

They will fuck shit up, BAD.
Their fucking things up will cause some disaster.
They will use the disaster to justify their having to stay in power.

There will be many, though, who voted for him as a protest vote thinking Clinton was going to win the election anyway. They will regret their votes but I think that is less than half of his voters.

(27,813 posts)... when will they admit it?
I knew a few Dubya fans who only admitted their regret after he left office, and said they'd known for years he was a fuck-up, but didn't want to hear "I told you so".
