Majority Want Mondays Electoral College Vote Postponed In Wake Of Russia Scandal: New Poll

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/majority-want-mondays-electoral-college-vote-postponed-in-wake-of-russia-scandal-new-poll_us_5855fdaae4b08debb7898779

(Note: There's an on-line petition at the above link)

From the Huffington Post: A majority of American voters favor delaying the Electoral College vote scheduled for Monday until electors can be fully briefed on Russian interference in the election, according to a new poll conducted by YouGov.

The survey, sponsored by the progressive advocacy group Avaaz, found 52 percent of people supportive of stalling the vote.

A surprisingly high number of people ― 46 percent ― were also willing to support so-called “faithless electors,” the name given to members of the Electoral College who spurn the vote of their home state and vote for a different candidate instead.

President-elect Donald Trump’s opponents have been pressuring electors to break with their state’s voters, and a law firm has even offered pro bono, confidential legal advice to any elector curious about his or her options. Avaaz has collected thousands of signatures on a petition calling for the vote to be delayed.

Trump won a fairly wide Electoral College victory on Election Day, but Hillary Clinton is on pace to beat him in the popular vote by some 3 million. In a sign of how divided the country is, however, more than 1 in 4 Republicans believe that Trump in fact bested Clinton in the popular vote. That belief may stem from a false claim Trump himself made on Twitter, when he said that he would have won the popular vote had millions of people not voted illegally. That came after a separate claim from Trump, in which he said he could have won the popular vote if he had wanted to, by campaigning in highly populated states like California and New York.

Some states mandate that electors vote the way their state instructs, but the 10th Circuit Court ruled late on Friday that such laws are unconstitutional. The court covers the region of Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Utah and Wyoming.

Only one elector has publicly said he will be breaking from Trump.

I thought the date was specified in the Constitution?

Could it be done without a Constitutional Amendment?

It stops everything.

Nothing else can.

Since it's clear we've been invaded by a hostile foreign nation - Russia - at the highest level, President Obama should declare Martial Law until all investigations into Russia's hacking and interfering with our national elections are concluded.

It's now or it'll be never. Speak up now or forever (and if it's up to Putin's Orange-maniac puppet, it will be forever) be silent (ced).

And once in power, I seriously doubt we'll lose the Orange-maniac. He, himself, could declare Martial Law when - this is not an IF but a WHEN - one of his buildings gets attacked - and Putin, with a past of blowing up high-rise apartment buildings and killing innocent men, women, and children (and blaming the Ukrainians for it) in order to get elected, will happily do whatever it takes to keep Trump in the White House.

Make no mistake. Trump doesn't give a crap about this country. He cares about becoming a true billionaire like Putin, who is estimated with a net worth in excess of $200 billion dollars - all stolen from his people - and is the true richest man on Earth. Trump cares about MONEY and doing as he pleases. The White House under his control will give him everything his egotistic and greedy heart desires. That's why he must be stopped before being inaugurated.

And only declaring Martial Law until all investigations into Russia's hacking and interfering in our elections, can do that.

At this point, we need to ask ourselves: What would FDR do in a situation like this?

Sign an Executive Order.

For the duration of the State of Emergency, Congress shall remain out of session until called back by the President. They will be able to debate and vote only on specific legislation approved by the office of the President.

Further, any and all decisions of the Supreme Court shall be deemed Provisional and unenforceable until approved by the President.

It will be known by a catchy name like "Executive Order to Remedy the Distress of People and Republic"

Article 2, Section 1, Clause 4 provides:

The Congress may determine the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.

the best we will get is investigations, and hope they lead to
impeachment, but it's a long shot with the GOP investigating
itself. Hopefully this will eat political capital and time.

But the end result would be a President chosen by the House. *GULP*
