UN experts denounce 'myth' pesticides are necessary to feed the world

Last edited Wed Mar 8, 2017, 07:58 AM - Edit history (1)

Report warns of catastrophic consequences and blames manufacturers for ‘systematic denial of harms’ and ‘unethical marketing tactics’

But republicans and their devious Plutocrat-in-Chief are all like FULL SPEED AHEAD with GMOs and GMOs' beverages of corporate choice: pesticides, herbicides, etc. Let us not forget antibiotics as they infest Meat Factories and the purely "coincidental" upswing in sales of "probiotics."

The report said: “Chronic exposure to pesticides has been linked to cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, hormone disruption, developmental disorders and sterility.”

Furthermore, the report said, recent Chinese government studies indicated that pesticide contamination meant farming could not continue on about 20% of arable land.

8. Except there are no UN scientists in this report.

Did you even read it? It is a 24 page report written by two "human rights experts". Actual scientists had nothing to do with it. Most of the report has nothing to do with pesticides but human rights law.

9. Free clue: the report is based on science

so diversionary tactics about who did the writing are irrelevant

Here you go: have a heaping helping of science with your hopefully pesticide-free breakfast product:

"There is a huge body of evidence on the relation between exposure to pesticides and elevated rate of chronic diseases such as different types of cancers, diabetes, neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson, Alzheimer, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), birth defects, and reproductive disorders...."

5. Pesticide salesman & factory farmer Sonny Perdue - repube pick for USDA

Kickass republican pesticide parties dead ahead.

"...Perdue’s record demands closer attention. He is an adamant climate change denier.

"He also has close ties to agribusiness. As governor of Georgia, for example, he oversaw a dramatic expansion of factory farming..."

7. Alternative post kick: Pee45's USDA & republican "ethics"
Thu Mar 9, 2017, 09:51 AM
Mar 2017

OK, the New York Times has forced me to break my promise* about not kicking this thread any more, with their story today about republican USDA nominee & pesticide salesman Sonny Perdue's scuzzy record on "ethics."

Sonny Boy is obviously infested with republican-style so-called "ethics" - and if approved he will be in charge of the so-called "food" corporate industrial agriculture is slapping on to your dinner plate.

* promise revision ok'd by Comrade Jeff Sessions (R - revision miester)
