4. Pre-existing conditions are lumped into the high risk pools and Trump thinks this is dandy!!....

Part of Interview:

...........JOHN DICKERSON: Help us explain because there are people--

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: The bill--

JOHN DICKERSON: --out there wondering what kind of changes.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Let me explain. Let me explain it to you.

JOHN DICKERSON: Okay.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: This bill is much different than it was a little while ago, okay? This bill has evolved. And we didn't have a failure on the bill. You know, it was reported like a failure. Now, the one thing I wouldn't have done again is put a timeline. That's why on the second iteration, I didn't put a timeline.

But we have now pre-existing conditions in the bill. We have -- we've set up a pool for the pre-existing conditions so that the premiums can be allowed to fall. We're taking across all of the borders or the lines so that insurance companies can compete--

Everything President Trump has tweeted (and what it was about)

April 30, 2017, 10:25 p.m.

His tweets have the power to shape international relations, send stock prices up — or down — and galvanize the American public.

We're watching how Donald Trump is using this platform of unfettered communication now that he’s commander in chief. Here is everything Trump has tweeted since he was sworn in as 45th president of the United States. In many cases, we look at what he was reacting to and whether what he said was accurate. And, as much as possible, we'll relate what else was going on at the time. Check back for more as Trump continues to tweet.

Trump says new GOP healthcare bill 'guarantees' coverage for pre-existing conditions
Associated Press

During an interview with “Face the Nation” on CBS aired Sunday, President Trump said a revised bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act has a “clause that guarantees” that people with pre-existing conditions will be covered.

Trump said: “Pre-existing conditions are in the bill. And I just watched another network than yours, and they were saying, `Pre-existing is not covered.’ Pre-existing conditions are in the bill. And I mandate it. I said, 'Has to be.'"

Despite a renewed White House effort push, the House did not vote last week on the revised healthcare bill.

The latest version would let states escape a requirement under Obama's 2010 law that insurers charge healthy and seriously ill customers the same rates. The overall legislation would cut the Medicaid program for the poor, eliminate fines for people who don't buy insurance and provide generally skimpier subsidies. Critics have said the approach could reduce protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

by the insurance cos own definitions, thus everyone will be in the higher risk pool and will pay more, and it goes back to worse than it was before the ACA.

and coverage for costly medical care because the patient did not think to mention on her application that she had once had a yeast infection, which they called a disqualifying pre-existing condition (and which was totally unrelated to her subsequent medical issue). We all hoped that those ridiculous days were over, until this ignorant, unqualified carnival barker conned his way through the electoral college despite losing the popular vote by millions.

and showed how people were hopelessly trapped in the bureaucracy of coverage denials. You could have acne and have that considered a "pre-existing condition".

The pregnancy-as-pre-existing-condition thing is almost the epitome because at that point, once a woman with insurance gets pregnant for the first time, she is tarred and feathered for life when it comes to insurance if she switches jobs or policies.

Gov. Abbott could care less about us even though he has one Hell of a pre-existing condition himself. He was already instrumental in preventing a recovery such as he received for his accident, so he has money and government health-care.

...and come away with two completely different impressions. My husband and I watched this yesterday. He swore that 45 said it covered pre-existing conditions. I told him that he was bamboozled by trump-speak, and he didn't appreciate it much. I read him that part of the transcript and he still didn't see how it happened. I tried to explain it to him, to no avail.

I just can't get through to him. His mind is locked shut. He's not going to get it until he's completely screwed by 45. Then he's going to be bitter for the rest of his life.

Trump just doesn't understand the meaning of the language in the bill. He mistakenly thinks that having language that allows for a pool for those with pre-existing conditions is the same thing as coverage. They still will need regular coverage at, say, $400 a month. Pool coverage is above that and could well be another $4,000 a month. On paper that is coverage but nobody can afford the cost. Nobody. Trump simply cannot relate to that so he looks at the words and says "it's in there". He is just too dense to grasp that it is an impossibility to remove the fines, reduce subsidies, lower premiums, lower deductibles and cover pre-existing conditions.
