I just checked Japanese Google news and shocked to find out U.S. B-1 bombers were flying over Korean peninsula yesterday. Somehow, it is smaller news here.
I am originally from Japan married to an U.S. citizen and have a daughter. All my families lives in Japan. I was never scared this much since 70"s Cuban crisis.
U.S. B-1 bomber can drop nuclear bomb, you know that.
I am so afraid for my country and for the future of the world.

(11,725 posts)Do US citizens care less about N. Korea than what? Healthcare? The pending government shut down? The collusion with Russia to subvert our elections?
Are you simply asking whether we are aware of certain details regarding the problems with N. Korea?
I would imagine that the story of our actions in N. Korea and the response of their government would be of much greater immediate importance to Japan given that they are well within the strike range of N. Korean weapons systems. I think that because there is definitive proof that N. Korea does not have a way of striking US territory (large population centers), that it is not front page news at all times like say the Cuban Missile Crisis was in the 1960's.
I certainly know that B-1 bombers can carry nuclear payloads, as can B-2's and B-52's which are part of our nuclear triad. We also have submarines in the area with nuclear missiles on them. It is very scary because if we launch and N. Korea launches, it is likely to trigger responses from other countries and can spread extremely fast.
Like I said though, because the potential destruction is slightly removed from the mainland, the focus here is on things that are more immediately pressing like the shutdown and the continuing attempt by Republicans to destroy the healthcare system we currently have.
