Just curious, after they accused Obama of giving him his security clearance?
It's really hard to understand, or even to walk around, in all this bullshit.

(13,340 posts)When I left Federal Service, I maintained a clearance.
That clearance followed me to my private sector job. I am not aware that it ever became inactive, but I am not an expert on this point.

(29,798 posts)A security clearance doesn't grant access to classified information. It only says that at the time of the personal background investigation no issues were found that indicates you are a security risk.
To get access to classified information you must have "a need to know" determination made by whoever is in charge of the specific information being safeguarded. So, once you leave a job you no longer have a need to know and would be denied access to classified information previously available.

(423 posts)Otherwise Flynn's clearance from 2012 would've been suspended when he was fired by Obama & he wouldn't have been able to reapply in 2016. However when he was forced to resign from Trump's administration the clearance was suspended by I think DIA.
