Unbelievable!
"Democrats would do much better as a party if they got together with Republicans on Healthcare,Tax Cuts,Security. Obstruction doesn't work!"

How do you get together with people who are keeping their work secret and WON'T LET you get together with them?

(1,336 posts)is aimed exclusively at his uneducated followers, much the same as a cult leader blusters at his cult flock to keep them interested and in line. Of course, his asinine tweets also serve the purpose of taking the minds of any possible "strays" off Mueller's investigation.

(36,076 posts)He constantly hammers variations on the same theme: Tax Cuts! Border! Healthcare!
Over and over.
He definitely knows who brought him to the dance, which tells me he and his people are worried enough if they can't make those things happen

(9,895 posts)Where Jones used a loudspeaker and droning sermons, Trump uses Twitter.
Sadly, I am willing to bet a good percentage of Trump supporters would drink the Kool-Aid immediately if Twitterlini ordered them to...

Sure, you can tell yourself that joining them on one thing doesn't mean acceptance of everything but once you start caving in to those who mean to cause as much damage as possible, the bread crumbs you're claiming moral victory over are, and remain, worthless.
Don't tell yourself that's how government works, because you aren't living in a time where those you are working with and living around give a damn about how government works, they only care about what they can get and who they can oppress.
There is no good derived from giving in to a bully. (or bullies, as is the case in American politics)
You don't compromise with your abuser - that merely serves to give the abuser more power over you.

I'm sure poor elderly people will be comforted by tax cuts.

(9,350 posts)Democrats are not trying to obstruct anything; Donald Trump seems to be lazy and a bad leader. Republicans control all three branches of government and they have a nearly filibuster proof margin in the Senate. However, they have barely passed any legislation in the first five months of Trump's presidency. If you have control of all three branches of government and you cannot pass legislation you are a bad leader. Why is there so much chaos in the White House and the Republican controlled Congress? Why have key government jobs not been filled?
