is taken very seriously in Jamaica.
Harvey took that route but stayed way south of us and weakened before regaining strength in the GOM - the rest is history

Anywhere between Pensacola and Tampa. Irma looks as though it will swing north and maybe miss the US mainland but if that disturbance develops, it's far enough south to travel along the same path as Eloise did in 1975.

Yes she did come south around Puerto Rico and then to Florida via Cuba, but I was thinking more of Gilbert, Ivan and of course Harvey (even though Harvey stayed way south of Jamaica)

Florida has been hit from all sides.

Most hurricanes do not wander up this far as hurricanes, but Ivan did, 2004.

Luckily, I was not living here at the time, did not move back till a year later.
People were still shell shocked.

We were heading for Grenada and Cayman like devastation and he just moved. We had tropical storm conditions and lost power for two or three days. Some coastal towns had serious damage.
