Facebook sent its employees to Donald Trump’s campaign office to help with online marketing
By Bill Palmer
Updated: 2:55 am EDT Thu Sep 7, 2017

Facebook is finally admitting that it allowed fake Russian accounts to run paid political ads during the election (link). Although Facebook says it’s now cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, the revelation is bringing new attention to the relationship between Facebook Incorporated and the Donald Trump campaign. That relationship involved Facebook sending its employees to help out at the Trump campaign office in charge of digital marketing. The source of this information: one of Trump’s own people.

In an online BBC video, Theresa Hong, the Donald Trump campaign’s Digital Content Director, has made a number of startling confessions that she seems to think were bragging points. She’s revealed that Cambridge Analytica, the company suspected of having used voter data stolen by the Russian government to plot its online marketing strategy on Trump’s behalf, ran its operations out of the same offices where the Trump campaign itself was plotting its paid Facebook ad strategy. But the truly shocking revelation is who else she admits was in the building, which Trump’s people called “Project Alamo.”

The BBC interviewer asks Hong, “What were Facebook and Google and YouTube people actually doing here? Why were they here?” She responds by saying “They were helping us, you know. They were basically our hands-on partners as far as being able to utilize the platform as effectively as possible.” Shen then bragged “When you’re pumping in millions and millions of dollars to these social platforms, you’re going to get white glove treatment. So they would send people, you know, representatives to the Project Alamo to ensure that all our needs were being met.” Watch the shocking BBC video below (link):

If true, I'm am completely sickened. If false, it sounds like it could be true and mea culpa.

A grotesque "social media" site it is! Of what use it is, I've yet to discover; lasted abt. 1 week on Fakebook and dumped them, something I'd recommend others do as well.

I've heard of people that take the crap from this site way too seriously; it literally runs and ruins their lives! You hear about all sorts of things happening as a result of Fakebook.

to hoping the Zuckerfuck goes away with his Fakebook ASAP!!! !!!

oh, one almost hack but I caught it..

I stay in contact with REAL friends, and, very importantly, with professional friends and acquaintances around the world.....

new products, reviews, discussions, used musical instruments for sale, performance/interpretation discussions, who's playing where and when.. video posts, reviews
I never, ever post or reply to or discuss anything political-- with ONE notable exception. the video of THE SOUSAPHONE GUY !!! I'm sure you know what I mean

"I've heard of people that take the crap from this site way too seriously."

I can only say that I have never seen any 'crap' as you put it, although it doesn't surprise me that such exists.
I do see some posted 'ads' but either hide or ignore them...

That has just been my experience.

didn't have people from Google, Facebook, Twitter, et al helping out?

That's how it works. You pay for a service, you get assistance.

I watched the video, but the emphasis you are putting on Google/FB/Twitter is unreasonable. Owners of all 3 spoke out against Trump, but they offer a service and are obliged to help with said service.

I buy ads on facebook all the time. There is no approval process. Just select your target audience and duration and click "buy".

As for bots and fake news, facebook has been doing a lot to combat that, but it requires user input. I report every bot and fake news I see, and 99% of the time, the content/user is removed.

I had a friend that "liked all the anti Hilary memes and toons and articles, they showed up in my "news feed" to the extent that they were in fact well over 75% of my feed.

Endless constant bullshit with no letup and in fact escalating amounts each day.

When you consider that I have more than one friend and that they also " liked other things that had nothing to do with politics then my question is:

Why did the political "news" crap on my feed reach such a disproportionate amount in relation to the rest of what my many other friends liked and passed on?????

After reading the above article it's obvious the reason was that F'book had a vested interest in making sure this garbage they were paid to distribute reached everybody.

The fact that I not once re-"liked" any of my friends posts having to do with politics answers that question.

F'book and it's owners were paid to shove it down our throats, and they did everything they could give the Russians their money's worth.

Fuck facebook, and zuckerberg.

, there's a whole investigation between now and when we learn the results. But this sounds very bad.

It's possible (surely probable?!) that at that point these companies had no idea they were collaborating with the Kremlin rather than just with elements of the Trump campaign.

"...partners as far as being able to utilize the platform as effectively as possible..."

No matter, this may force the passage of new regulations. Laws limiting business's ability to cause harm to society are always passed as a result of grave harm to society.
