Much of the toy merchant’s debt is the legacy of a $7.5 billion leveraged buyout in 2005 in which Bain Capital, KKR & Co. and Vornado Realty Trust loaded the company with debt to take it private. Since then, the Wayne, New Jersey-based chain has struggled to dig itself out.

There is a big Toys R Us warehouse about 12 miles north of here. That's a lot of jobs.

(I have nieces to spoil). There's something to be said about browsing in a store to find something as opposed to going to Amazon. The latter is great if you know what you want, but way too many items to casually browse.

I've found some of my nieces' best birthday/Christmas gifts by casually browsing. THings I would not have found online.
