The civil rights and Vietnam protests changed America.

Today they might be illegal.

What’s the state of free speech in America?

----

It’s not just the problems on college campuses where high-profile speakers haven’t been allowed to talk. It’s not just what happened in Charlottesville, where a counterprotester was run over and killed. It’s not just President Trump’s insistent call for the firings or suspensions of NFL players who take a knee during the national anthem to protest police violence.

An insidious problem also is developing in dozens of states where legislatures are considering — and sometimes approving — new laws that restrict free speech.

Learning more about Vietnam.

I often have felt that I had I've been old enough in the 60s and 70s, that I would've protested the war. But since I was born in 1967, it looks like this is my chance to make somewhat of a difference. We need to defend the rights for ourselves and next generations to come.

I have always loved this song by Pete Seeger (or the Byrds):
...

"...a time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late"
