No, you crawl, asshole. (Twitter time-outs)

Last edited Tue Sep 26, 2017, 04:55 PM - Edit history (1)

So, in response to someone who tweeted that some idiot had tweeted this:

I tweeted "No, you crawl, asshole" with this pic:
Which I knew was a little lame, even if only because maybe I should have taken the time to find a pic of a female in similar gear to the macho survivalist dude, but I which I still thought was mildly amusing.

Immediately got a notice like this from Twitter:
This is the third time in the past few months I've had my hand slapped. Fine, if it helps keep make twitter a nicer place. But the fact that they do not specify what exactly was the violation, I don't see how it will change my behavior. They don't even say exactly which tweet they are acting on. I'd sent a few in the minute or so before I got the notice.

It is believed they focus on certain objectionable words. The last two times, I think it was for tweets in which I used the word "moron." But, again, not positive.

Has anyone seen anything giving more specific details on twitter's triggers?

By the way, in case DryBones turns out to be a psycho, I should add that it's not me. I have no idea who it is. I didn't have a screenshot of the "temporarily limited" notice I received, so I just got one from google images.

And since he had to cry about how someone was telling him that he isn't Special because he has a penis OR a gun, OBVIOUSLY you get to get your hand slapped.

Duh...

Personally I thought that was a pretty clever response; good for you.

(On Edit) besides, why Is that worthless asshole begging for a date? If he were a grown-ass man, he wouldn't have to...oh that's right...because he ISNT a grown-ass man, hes a little manBoy who still needs Mommy to tell him he's her Special Little Snowflake.

aren't getting any. This is pervasive enough (of course, when you think about it) that some theories posit it as a significant factor in the rise of both reactionary and just-plain-nasty right wingers and are trying to measure it.

Is the "crawl asshole" part. The only time I seem to get Twitter time outs I'm politely suggesting that Roger Stone may desire carnal knowledge with an unfortunate farm animal.

Also trying to helpfully tell Sean Hannity that he's going to suffocate with his head so firmly jammed into Trumps lower colon has resulted in a time out.

I think it's the physical activity associated with the profanity because I've called these assholes and a few more some pretty nasty names with no consequences.

there could have been a complaint and an active response so quickly. I mean, it was in seconds.

But, again, it could have been a different tweet. Twitter does not specify. In which case I have absolutely no idea what the exact infraction would have been. Giving no details on that seems like a stupid way to try to "create a safer environment."

Twitter too. It's not just an algorithm. My friend had their account suspended due to "targeted harassment", we've been looking through her TL to find any evidence, but there is none.

She was calling out putinbots, specific accounts that were pushed into revealing themselves and were not happy about it.

Trust me, every time someone like Assange or Greenwald or Donald Trump Jr. starts fucking around I'll get a timeout double-quick if I don't use my words judiciously...

And if I'm honest with myself, the 12-hour cooldown is usually needed (and welcome) before my rage makes me spontaneously combust...

as every character counts and some four-letter-words have way more than four. But, I've used it more times and not been cautioned than times I have been. And, from what I read, the timeouts are not related to cumulative behavior.

So, there are many reasonable theories, but nothing definitive. If they really wish to change behavior, it would make more sense to specify the nature of the specific violation.

But, yeah, it does seem to be some kind of formula, because I don't believe twitter is like DU with a human jury or anything similar.
