The members of the left wing of the Democratic Party are furious at Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez for removing party officials who backed Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellisons chairmanship bid from key party committees.
Its a slap in the face to the activists in the party that are working so hard to make the party more responsive to the grassroots, said Charles Chamberlain, executive director of Democracy for America, a digital grassroots group. The idea that youre going to purge Ellison supporters and bring the party together doesnt make any sense at all.

I am speechless.....we need to WIN seats back....we need to win period! What are they thinking? We need everyone.
Our note to Tom this morning...
I want the Democratic Party to return to being the party of the people, specifically the party that represents the interests of the middle class while lifting up the poor. We are the party of FDR, not Bill Clinton. No more middle of the road and the DLC.
I am very upset that the DNC under your stewardship decided to purge the leadership of progressive members. This is not the way forward and this action needs to be reversed today.
The only way for us to win elections is to become a stark alternative to the GOP, not some watered down version of the right.
I, for one; will not send a dime to the Democratic Party unless this purge of progressives is reversed.
We got rid of Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her despicable actions in 2016 and we will rid ourselves of anyone who wants to return us to the "pink" policies of the DLC.

If Ellison had won, he would have done the same thing. It's the job.
Several supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) are also on Perezs list, including former Sanders spokeswoman Symone Sanders.
Two people who challenged Perez for DNC chair have been nominated Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) and former South Carolina Democratic chairman Jaime Harrison. After a hard-fought and sometimes bitter campaign, Perez tapped Ellison, a Sanders supporter, to be his deputy chairman.
Labor leader Randi Weingarten, who backed Ellison in the DNC chair race over Perez, is also nominated.
Perezs full slate of nominations is below:

(11,175 posts)Perez gets to appoint 75 at-large members of the DNC. You've given the list of those 75 appointees.
In addition, Perez appoints all the members of the key committees, notably the Executive Committee and the Rules and Bylaws Committee.
Now take another look (or, perhaps, a look) at the headline of the article linked in the OP: "Progressives Anger Over Key Committee Appointments Roils Democratic Party Meeting". Also the subhead: "Officials who backed Rep. Keith Ellison over Tom Perez were removed from crucial posts."
Scroll down and you'll see the details. Perez is getting flak about removing people from those important committees.
Consider the fierce intra-party debate about whether to reduce or eliminate the role of the superdelegates. The Unity Commission, appointed with such fanfare, is supposed to make a recommendation, but it's just a recommendation, to be considered by -- the Rules Committee. The linked HuffPo article quotes Becky Bond, who worked on the Sanders campaign:
A different article, "Democratic Party Drama Puts Deputy Chair Keith Ellison in a Tough Spot", reported further elaboration from Bond:
I know how she feels. I, too, am frustrated about online comments, here and elsewhere, that tout the diversity of Perez's at-large appointments while ignoring the purges on the committees.

Please send $ 15,000 to my account at the National Bank of Nigeria so I can transfer deeds to you immediately.
