But wait...I thought people were sure it was going to be some sort of white supremacist, false flag operation, possibly just some gun nut looking for a chance to shoot somebody.

Is it any wonder that these "protesters" get so little respect? I'll be interested to see if any of the protest leaders denounce these shootings.

He conducted the grand jury the way I think it should be conducted - present all the evidence and let the grand jury members decide. Most prosecutors just cherry pick the most damning pieces of evidence and push through an indictment.

19. The "protestors" get so little respect because we have been taught for hundreds of years that one = all.

If the story is accurate, one man shot those officers. However the prevailing tactic is to decry all protestors, or in this case, all protestors of a certain race, in order to marginalized the message. Ferguson has had problems for many years, and is only one example of how people of color are treated on a daily basis. When evidence is shown of mistreatment, many look for ways to minimize the treatment with the old "they deserve it" standby.

Whatever happened in the Mike Brown case doesn't change the unjust system that was in place in Ferguson and continues to operate unabated in most of America. Seeing people of color as inferior is part of American DNA and has been indoctrinated with our citizenry since 1620. Consequently many white Americans conflate the negative actions of a person of color to the whole group, using it to justify the actions that happened.

Right now most white Americans never experience in their lives the injustices that people of color experience on an almost daily basis, but the old saying is true. What goes around comes around. If we idly sit by blaming the victims of institutional bias and discrimination, it won't be much longer before we suffer the same fate.

24. May NOT have been a protestor, and claims to not have been firing at police directly

According to CNN story the alleged shooter is claiming that he was not aiming at the police but someone else.

And although the cops are claiming he was a protestor, an Organizer/minister who talked to the alleged shooter said the shooter admitted to him he had never been to one of the protests.

Also will be interesting where the pistol, a .40caliber handgun came from. This is usually used by police. Also 125 yards is way outside of the normal accuracy range of any pistol. (10-20 yards at most) Edit: On looking up this type of pistol is one of the longest distance capable rounds as it is a relatively fast bullet.

Will be interesting how this really shakes out. Looks like it might just be gang type thugs.

55. If His Target Wasn't Police Was His Target Protesters In Hopes Of Police Being Blamed?

Sounds logical to me I mean if he was aiming to shoot someone else, why open fire in a place where hundreds of Police Officers were already there on the scene...

However the Police may have been his target & he is just denying they were the intended targets in hopes a judge & or jury would show him leniency...

I just have a hard time believing that he was trying to shoot someone else at a public rally in which thousands were in r attendance including hundreds of Police Officers as well as all major & local news reporter's who were constantly video taping the protest. Even more strange is the only two shot just happened to be Police Officers...

30. How ironic if this just turned out to be a drive-by with cops as collateral damage?

From the article,

Williams, 20, fired the shots from a car moving through the area, McCulloch said. It's unclear if he meant to shoot the police officers, said McCulloch, since Williams told investigators he was involved in some sort of dispute prior to the shooting.

cop who was shot in the face? remember the st louis police chief said the bullet was lodged behind the cop's ear. and why did the cops dig up someone's roof? why did they initially say the shots were from the crowd of 90 protestors - and that they saw muzzle fire? i seriously doubt anything that comes out of mcculloughs lying mouth. not enough "smoking gun details" for me.

when I see a 'reputable' witness places him at the scene and an independent investigator say's it's most likely they did the shooting. No local investigator can be trusted to have an unprejudiced view. Period. Probably just two arrested for media consumption, of which they are pigging out on, I'm sure.

47. so his admission that he fired the shots is not enough evidence for you?

He admitted he did it, there is no grand conspiracy here.

The only real question remaining is the validity of his story that he was shooting at someone else. Though in my opinion he should face very serious charges regardless of who he was shooting at, drive by shootings into crowds is completely unforgivable.

When I see a 'reputable' witness corroborate that story. In the meantime -

He told investigators that he had a dispute with some people outside the police station that had nothing to do with the demonstration, officials said.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/16/us/suspect-arrested-in-shooting-of-2-officers-in-ferguson-police-say.html?_r=0

Unless someone steps forward and lets us know that he asked them to step aside so he could shoot to LEO - I gotta go with what he 'admitted' to. He was never shooting at 'cops' until that's proven in a court of law.
