Q poll: Trump, Clinton ahead in Fla., with great news for Biden
Source: Tampa Bay Times
A new swing-state poll by Quinnipiac University finds that Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton are the clear winners in party primaries in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, but Vice President Joe Biden does as well as Clinton in general election matchups against Republicans. ... Clinton received support of 48 percent of Florida Democrats followed by 15 percent for Sanders and 11 percent for Biden, with 17 percent undecided. Among Republicans, Trump gets 21 percent, with 17 percent for Bush and 11 percent each for Rubio and Ben Carson. No other candidate tops 7 percent, with 8 percent undecided. ... When Florida Republicans were asked which candidate they would definitely not support, 29 percent chose Trump, 17 percent chose Bush and Rand Paul and 16 percent chose Chris Christie. Read more: http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/the-buzz-florida-politics/q-poll-in-florida-favors-clinton-bush-but-good-news-for-biden/2242033 Florida's Ex-Gov. Bush is losing to Trump in Florida?!? Florida Sen. Rubio cannot poll ahead of Trump, Bush, or Carson - a doctor with no political experience or any ties to Florida?!? I guess the Florida Republicans who know Bush and Rubio best are not sold on the Bush or Rubio campaigns. This shocks me.

1. If these numbers hold up it would the most massive any Party landslide in history...the political capital and
the political coattail would be....immense and long. The Obama form of revolution can continue and the tempo increased for reform, beginning with the overturning legislatively of the vile CU decision that is at the heart of the vile tactics of the GOP and their co-dependent corporate media.
Why is the Democratic Party risking all that for a populist uprising revolutionary pipe dream? |

5. Be glad for the "populist uprising revolutionary." Without the Sanders campaign, the MSM would
be attacking the Democratic primary as a "coronation" which would cause the Clinton more harm than a fair debate about policies.
If the "populist uprising revolutionary" wins the primary nomination, then that is a sign that Clinton's campaign was probably not going to win the general election so no loss. If Clinton wins (and even as a Sanders supporter, I think that this is the most likely outcome), the primary debate will make the Clinton campaign stronger for the general election. No matter who we prefer in the primary, we should not fear or despise the primary process and we should be prepared to support our favorite Democrat in the primary and support out favorite Democrat in the general election. |

I don't see the Democrats doing well in the general in FL in this poll. Maybe I read it wrong.

12. "The Obama form of revolution...."
![]() And btw, last time I checked, it would take a Supreme Court reversal or a constitutional amendment to "overturn" Citizens United so you better hope for something more revolutionary than Obama's nudging the ship of state 2 degrees in a different direction...that is, if you want results in your lifetime. |

16. You are under a misunderstanding. Most of CU CAN be changed without a Constituional amendment.
I believe Bernie Sanders has a detailed plan, including one he will introduce, not for the first time, in September....and he is not the only one with multiple doable plans... and there were even a couple of laws voted on but filibustered by the GOP....so, please, stay informed and you will stay a little less outraged.
As always the real enemy is in the other direction. |

20. Thanks for a lecture, Fred. Got any links to back up your assertions?
Because I would love to see the plan. In the meantime, here's a copy of an email from said Bernie Sanders, dated this June: (my bold)
"In this election, there's going to be a whole mess of shadowy Super PACs funded by the super wealthy for nearly every presidential candidate. That is, everyone except for our campaign. The Supreme Court's decisions in Citizens United and other cases opened the gates to a flood of billions of dollars that threatens to undermine our democracy. I have led the fight to put an end to the corrupting influence of big money in our politics. What we need now is a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. Our democracy is not for sale. Can you sign our petition to join me in supporting a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United? Click here to add your name. https://go.berniesanders.com/page/s/citizens-united?source=em150627a&utm_medium=email&utm_source=berniesanders&utm_campaign=citizensunited&utm_content=petition It's not an accident that 99% of new income created in the last 5 years went to the top 1%. It’s not an accident that Republicans refuse to accept the reality of climate change. It’s not an accident that the Republican budget calls for huge tax breaks for billionaires. The lesson here is that our political system isn't broken, it's rigged. The laws are written by politicians to please the corporations and ultra-wealthy, who bought those politicians with hundreds of millions of dollars in political contributions. We need a political revolution to return our government to be of the people, by the people, for the people. It starts with taking our country's destiny out of the hands of the billionaires who want to buy this election. We must overturn Citizens United to get big money out of politics. Click here to add your name to our petition calling for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. https://go.berniesanders.com/page/s/citizens-united?source=em150627a&utm_medium=email&utm_source=berniesanders&utm_campaign=citizensunited&utm_content=petition Thanks for your support," Funny, I don't see anything in there about a legislative process. And fwiw I also agree with Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. in his views on moderates so I find your comment about enemies to be condescending, misleading and one-dimensional. But again, thanks for the lecture: those always go a long way when trying to win friends and influence people. p.s. your outrage-o-meter needs calibrating |

14. Sample in FL has Republicans outnumbering Democrats 58% to 42%
Last edited Thu Aug 20, 2015, 02:19 PM - Edit history (1) Major criticism had come from multiple analysts that Quinnipac appears to be using a voter screen based off the Republican Tsunami mid-term, as opposed to adjusting for much higher turnout in GE years (The norm for most polling firms).
Basically, Q is assuming the Republican wave continues unabated and without slow down in 2016 against all reasonable expectations. |

18. That is incredible...what were the pollsters thinking? Have they tried to justify this?
Because the CNN poll showed Democratic Party voter enthusiasm up sharply and Republicans flat...Very Enthusiastic for Registered Democratic Party supporter jumped from 18% to 33% since June...remarkable.
The Quinnipac Poll using more Republicans to balance out less enthusiastic Democratic voters is completely contradicted by the CNN polling on party enthusiasm. http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251533443 |

And Bush and Rubio beating Clinton by double digits in the general. Wow, that's surprising Hillary can't crack 40% in the general election matchups.

13. Why on earth these polls keep Biden as a choice? last I heard He
is NOT running. Biden should stay put his day HAS passed. After all Biden and Hillary co sponsored and supported the crime bill that Bill Clinton is all of a sudden ashamed of and apologized for. MHO. As Attorney in Texas said. I will hold my nose and vote for 'the democrat" in the General if it's not Bernie.
Go Bernie Florida is waiting for you. |

23. It's silly to include Biden in the poll. Even if he was going to run (and he's not) he isn't running
now so he is not getting any scrutiny or any attacks from the 17-person clown car or push back from Chafee etc.
Comparing Sanders' polling numbers to Biden's numbers is comparing a real campaign facing real and controversial issues (e.g., Black Lives Matter) and opposition (from various campaign surrogates) with a hypothetical campaign that does not exist and so is not confronting issues or opposition. It is like comparing Pope Francis with Santa Clause; love him or hate him or whatever, the Pope is a real person who actually exists in the world and Santa Clause isn't - just like the Biden campaign, he is a figment of imagination and myth. |

15. ugh
I don't see any good news for Dems in this poll.. talk me down.. if this is true.. we are already Toast for 2016... ugh.. but then again .. this is Q poll and they oversampled GOP massively... so who knows... but it doesnt jive with the national Cnn Poll either because if the leading candidate nationally usually they are leading the swing states .. however if this is a trend we will have an early depressing night in Nov 2016 and it wont be a Dem landslide either... it would be a GOP one.. and a trifecta... i hope these numbers are wrong!!!
