Clinton beats Sanders in three big primaries and turns fire on Trump
Source: L.A. Times
Hillary Clinton won primaries in Florida, North Carolina and Ohio, the nights most contested prize, as her rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders, struggled to get the boost he needs to try to close the gap in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.
A fourth race, in Illinois, appeared very tight based on early returns and exit polls, which also indicated a lead for Sanders in the night's final contest, in Missouri.
"We are moving closer to securing the Democratic Party nomination and winning this election in November, Clinton told supporters here, and she quickly moved to an attack on the Republican she expects to face in that election, Donald Trump, whom she accused of offering "bluster and bigotry."
"Our next commander in chief has to be able to defend our country, not embarrass it; engage our allies, not alienate them," she said.
"When we hear a candidate for president call for rounding up 12 million immigrants, barring all Muslims from entering the United States, when he embraces torture, that doesnt make him strong -- it makes him wrong."

(893 posts)and will renig on most of them in january although I don't think she has a hopes chance in winning.
I see Bernie for the moment is on top in MO I never thought that would ever happen. In Missouri??? O_O even for a moment I didn't think that was possible. Tonight was never gonna be a game changer anyway. Which is probably why I wasn't particularly in the mood. But last week MI was a real shot. ILL should be interesting why the exit polls are off

Speaking with reporters Tuesday, Business Roundtable president John Engler cited the Clintons' family history of changing their stances on trade deals, and downplayed the significance of Hillary Clinton's current opposition to the pending Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiated by President Obama.
"There's history in the family, in the Clinton family, where President Clinton was opposed to NAFTA in its current form before the election and then was the champion in the '90s," Engler said, referring to the North American Free Trade Agreement negotiated in the early 1990s and implemented by Bill Clinton.
"I think that there's nothing new about candidates running who are opposed to trade deals," Engler said, noting that Clinton has not spelled out specific objections to the TPP, a 12-nation trade deal.
...
"What would be newsworthy is if after they were elected they held the same position," Engler concluded. "That's to be determined."

(893 posts)The Democratic Party that fights for the most vulnerable people in society and makes sure no American falls into abject poverty is dead. Now it is a corporate-owned entity that will make sure Wall Street is bailed out by the American taxpayer whenever it bets too much of the tax payer's money.
Thanks, buddy.

(893 posts)When do we put ground troops in the Middle East again? When will your progressive re-institute financial regulations on the people she has taken millions of dollars from? Have you noticed your arrow points to the right?

(1,968 posts)And now you're pissed that Bernie has forced her to the left.
Some people are seeming unappeasable.
She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't.

I'd like to see Bernie continue on and see how the platform can be shaped at the convention.

Expect a whole different Hillary in January - the one who's financed by all those corporations in her super pac - which means sold out to them.
The colleges haven't been wrong in my lifetime. I wonder how many current Hillary supporters were consistent voters against progressive issues like Hillary has been when you look at her record? For her it's been consistent, I just suspect her supporters are more in tune with her than the left progressives realize. As Hillary says, it takes time to grow into civil rights issues including blacks not being called super predators and locked up forever. Interesting that she grows into them during campaign season and while try to pander to liberals. The last 4 months have been the most progressive in her life and contradicts her life. Obviously her past is likely in line with her supporters who don't have an issue with it.
