State Department Halts Its Clinton Email Investigation, Defers to FBI
Source: ABC News
The U.S. Department of State has halted its internal review of Hillary Clinton's most sensitive emails until the FBI's own investigation is complete, the State Department announced today.
"We do not want our internal review to complicate or impede [the FBI probe]," a spokeswoman said.
In January the department revealed that during its review of Clinton's 52,000 pages of private email it had come across 22 documents that had to be upgraded to "Top Secret" and totally withheld from public release. It said at the time that it would conduct a separate internal review to determine if the secret information in those emails had been mishandled at the time the emails were sent.
Today the State Department said it is deferring that judgment to the FBI, which is conducting a more comprehensive security review of Clinton's email. The outcome of that investigation is highly anticipated amid the 2016 election cycle. Clinton has said she is confident that will not happen and that she did not break any laws with her use of a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state.

(13,340 posts)Lots of folks here forgetting that he raised taxes by quite a bit, despite calls from the GOP that it would cause a depression. He also passed an Assault Weapons Ban. I don;t think it did any good, but it was a an effort, and those two things ushered in Gingrich and his "revolution." Why do so many casually forget those facts?
Was he the perfect progressive? No. But he was hardly a "Republican." The country did far better under him than any of the GOP, and he was building a base on which to expand. Sadly, he couldn't keep it in his pants, and the GOP managed to spin that into more than they should have been able too.

Hillary seems to be to the Right of Bill. and I'm really not in the mood for months and years of endless sex talk we have enough of that between Clinton and BUSH ...

(1,890 posts)The State Dept. began their investigation last year (anyone know the exact date?). The FBI began their investigation in the Summer of 2015. If it's standard practice to allow a law enforcement agency to first complete it's work why did the State Dept. wait until March to ask the FBI if they should defer to them? Or did the State Dept. ask them earlier than March? If they did why did the FBI wait until March to answer that question. Very interesting.

Not only did they have to go and get it from the lawyer, but I think they tried to trace all the boxes and backup media out there.

(2,544 posts)State = internal investigation, with its own dog in the hunt, wanting to keep its career people out of this morass that might cost them their jobs.
FBI = criminal probe, no dog in the hunt, no career jobs on the line.
State wants out of this mess. They are deferring to the FBI to take care of business.

(133 posts)Clinton, as SoS, was required to know what was top secret and what wasn't.
There are no exemptions or precedents, and the State Dept. knows it.
Plus, there is evidence of dereliction of duty by the State Dept itself. They have some 'splaining to do...big-time 'splaining.

(5,751 posts)is that even if it's not marked secret/top secret, etc., she has to know enough about the situation she's overseeing to err on the side of caution. That takes a little extra time to determine. You may need to ask another group of people. You need to do you due diligence. That's the importance of your position - YOU are the FUCKING BOSS, and the buck stops with you.
She's not going to get out of this one.

WikiLeaks reveals Hillary, Google, al Jazeera all conspiring against Syria.
http://truepublica.org.uk/global/google-able-effect-regime-change-appears/
Last week truepublica reported that four months ago, Google created a new holding company called Alphabet and that Eric Schmidt the new Executive Chairman of Alphabet, and therefore Google had decided to accept the offer of leading the Pentagon advisory board with a view to bringing Silicon Valley innovation and best practices to the US military. We questioned the ethics and moral judgement of both Schmidt and Google in joining forces with the biggest killing machine in modern times, certainly since the world wars.
We pointed to the meeting between Eric Schmidt and Julian Assange back in 2011, supposedly organised to discuss a book Schmidt was writing who was unexpectedly accompanied by a Jared Cohen. Cohen had moved to Google from the U.S. State Department in 2010. He had been a slick ideas guy at two U.S. administrations, known to be something of a courtier from the world of policy think tanks sympathetic to US foreign policy. He was a senior advisor for Secretaries of State Rice and Clinton.
Assange asserts that Schmidt was acting directly on behalf of Washington with a documented relationship that put him close to President Obama and Clinton and as Assange puts it: Cohens directorate appeared to cross over from public relations and corporate responsibility work into active corporate intervention in foreign affairs at a level that is normally reserved for states. Jared Cohen could be wryly named Googles director of regime change.

The released emails uncovered that the presidential frontrunner was instrumental in spreading chaos and extremism in Libya. They also revealed that she pushed for oil privatization in Mexico and forwarded emails claiming a Sunni-Shiite war would be good for Israel and the West.
For those who are fascinated but dont have the time or inclination to sift through more than 30,000 documents, here is a snapshot of what Clintons emails revealed:

This is an issue that has never been discussed, Ashton Carter, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, just to name a few..................they could have been put in a position and could have been "blackmailed"...........................in my humble opinion, look at what happened from days gone bye.......................and we still do not have answers---------------do we the public have a right to know................................or a need to know..........................

Nice spin though.
Deferring to the FBI is NOT having enough of a GOP witch hunt. Quite contrary, the 'witch hunt' was bogus, and this is VERY serious.
