Trump's approval rating falls in election strongholds

Source: Newsweek

BY TIM MARCIN ON 5/18/17 AT 5:25 PM

The places that loved Donald Trump in the 2016 election have begun to grow wary of the president, a new poll indicated Thursday.

The latest survey from Monmouth University found that Trump's approval rating has fallen in the counties that he won over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by 10 or more percentage points. In March, the 2,500 Trump stronghold counties gave the president a 55 percent approval rating. That fell 4 percentage points to 51 percent in the latest poll.

Perhaps more importantly, Trump's approval rating has plunged in the so-called swing counties that helped decide the election. There were 300 counties in which the margin between Clinton and Trump was in the single digits, according to Monmouth. In those counties, Trump's approval rating dropped from 41 percent in March to just 34 percent in the latest poll.

"Trump has been losing support in the places that matter most," said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute, in a statement.

Good news indeed. Are a few of the deplorables finally starting to wake up? Are they actually starting to smell the coffee, instead of smelling shit and thinking it's coffee (because trump told them it was, so of course they believed him )?

I can't believe how high his ratings are. Seriously. How fecking dumb can people be? Is there a really significant number of complete imbeciles being polled, a skewed sample, poor question structure? WTH?

people busy working, not paying attention closely just enough to know the news is buzzing but if asked don't even
know about special prosecutor or any of this. They don't watch the news because as my daughter says its all made
up for ratings you can't trust either side.

So they have done a great job with the fake news thing so now people don't trust the news. Nor do they even pay
attention, thinking its all just political games.

Those are the ones who still rate him high, by the way my daughter voted for Hillary but now is disgusted with both. She is 38
top manager that works many hours.

People just want to come home and have a glass of wine or beer, they don't want to mire in bad news, life is tough enough
raising kids and keeping your job.

even people who have been duped into voting against their own interests - as so many repubes have been - eventually get sick of the endless cascade of republican lies.

Lying is deplorable.

Check out "Results by day over polling period".

The Tuesday-Wednesday numbers are noticeably worse in almost every category compared to the Saturday-Monday numbers.

And there is still more damaging information coming out every hour.
