Ryan: Montana GOPer's Alleged Assault 'Wrong And It Should Not Have Happened'

Source: Talking Points Memo

By ESME CRIBB Published MAY 25, 2017 11:51 AM

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) on Thursday condemned Montana Republican candidate Greg Gianforte’s alleged assault of a reporter, but said he will accept Gianforte into the Republican conference if he wins the election.

“There’s never a call for physical altercations,” Ryan said at his weekly press conference. “There is no time where a physical altercation should occur with the press or just between human beings. So that is wrong and it should not have happened.”

Ryan on Thursday said that “the gentleman” — referring to Gianforte, who was charged with misdemeanor assault — “should apologize.”

“I know he has his own version, and I’m sure he’s going to have more to say, but there’s no call for this, no matter what, under any circumstance,” he said. “If he wins, will you seat him?” a reporter asked.

All he said was "It shouldn't have happened." But this didn't just "happen" in a vacuum. SCROTUS set the tone. Words have consequences, and here they are.

Ryan also said "it's not our choice, the people of Montana will decide who will be their representative". In other words, he doesn't personally condone physically assaulting reports, but hey if it's the will of the people, what are you gonna do?

By the way, did I miss Ryan's condemnation of Erdogan's goons beating up US citizens in our nation's capital?

As for the other asshole, Paul Ryan, this is just what we'd expect from him. "He shouldn't have done it, but we welcome all Republicans."

"Should Not Have Happened" is about as close as he can come to the subliminal thought "it did not happen"
