Russia warns US not to meddle in its elections

Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov warned Washington on Friday against trying to meddle in next month's Russian regional elections.

"I do not know what plans the U.S. embassy has, ​​but there were many episodes when American diplomats were seen in illegal activities," Lavrov said, the state-owned TASS news agency reported. "The relevant services should take appropriate measures." 

"I think it's in the American tradition, maybe they do not even consider it an intervention, because they can all do it and it's in their blood," Lavrov said.

I believe the US has in fact meddled in quite a number of elections of other countries. And if we're not satisfied, we'll send the fucking military in to topple your ass. Or do it more subtly.

The US is not new to that game. The conspiracy theory in me thinks that this is why we are moving to all electronic voting machines, so THEY can put in office who THEY want.

That said, as long as we insist on using read-and-write software-powered electronic voting/tabulation systems that were actually designed to be easily hacked (by Republicans, of course), we're practically handing our elections to the Russians, Israelis, and whoever else thinks they're entitled to pick our lawmakers for us.

But, a group of rogue American citizens, acting independently and without gov't approval, may attempt to hack Russian elections. Our gov't has no means to stop them. If Russia can't stop its criminals from hacking the U.S. elections, surely Russians can understand that U.S. will have equal difficulties in stopping criminals in U.S. who hack Russian elections.
