Baltimore man among 3 more charged in Charlottesville, Va., white supremacist rally

A 52-year-old Baltimore man, one of three more people charged in the Aug. 12 white nationalist rally in Virginia, was arrested Saturday and is being held in the Baltimore County Detention Center.

The man, identified as Richard Wilson Preston, was charged by Charlottesville, Va., police with discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school. Charlottesville Police said in a news release that Preston fired a gun in the 100 block of West Market Street.

Court records list his address in the 5800 block of Cedonia Ave. in the Northeast Baltimore neighborhood of Cedmont. Numerous news reports refer to Preston as imperial wizard of Marylands Ku Klux Klan chapter.

He was apparently picked up Saturday on a fugitive warrant issued in Virginia.

The guy on the viral video is Christopher Cantwell from Long Island and all he was charged with was discharging pepper spray without a permit. I couldn't believe that was all he was crying over.

There's a new video that surfaced this weekend of a one of the marchers drawing and firing towards the guy with flaming aerosol can. Not sure if this is the same guy or another nut who likes shooting off his gun in a crowd.

7. Coming out.

Many of these radical groups were in the closet (or the woods) during Obama's time, and now they're coming out. It's a good thing in a way so the public is more aware, and perhaps demand stronger investigations and exposure. Not wholly optimistic though, while Sessions is in charge of Justice.

9. I was thinking the same thing myself.

It is a good thing because during Obama's term they were in chat rooms and membership in hate groups was growing. Trump made them think it was ok to finally come out. I think they thought more of us would be behind them. All it did was expose them and bring us all together against hate and those damn statues! They have to go and this ought to do it!

It also is another big nail in Trump's coffin and may put at least a temporary stop to Republican dog whistles of racism. We can hang this all on Republicans in the next several elections. Too many Repugs have been silent!

don't think they're going away. So long as we have a significant percentage of Americans that are racist, xenophobic or excessively nationalistic, or allow right-wing media to keep them scared shitless 24/7, there will be groups and many will be armed. We've also heard that many have camps in remote locations and own large tracts of land for isolation, and have even tried to take over entire small towns.

I recall from time to time during Obama's tenure, we would get an occasional hint about the extent of those groups, but the one thing that stuck out was that the number of them exploded after Obama was elected. Hunting/camping outfitters, survivalist suppliers, gun makers and Walmart have made billions off these guys.

Many of these folks seem to want outright pie in the sky fascism, but all they're going to get from Republicans is cold plutocracy.

Trump has created and illusion in the right-wing bubble that a majority of Americans are behind him, so no wonder they are delusional! Unfortunately, small groups can do a lot of damage if it gets crazy with a psychopath or two in the bunch.

BTW, best wishes to everyone down your way, and everyone in southern Texas and Louisiana is in our hearts and minds. We feel helpless as hell from far away, but are hoping to pitch in with some contribution very soon.
