Trump meets with Hurricane Harvey survivors in Houston

Source: The Washington Post

By Philip Rucker September 2 at 2:18 PM

HOUSTON – President Trump swooped into this flood-ravaged city Saturday to meet with survivors of Hurricane Harvey in his second visit to southeast Texas since the storm came ashore eight days ago.

After focusing exclusively on the government response to Harvey and staying out of the disaster zone during his first trip to the region Tuesday, Trump planned to highlight storm victims and shine the presidential spotlight on communities dramatically altered by Harvey’s enduring floodwaters.

Trump, who traveled here with first lady Melania Trump, met with individuals impacted by the storm at the NRG Center in Houston, stopping by a lunch line where volunteers distributing hot dogs, chips and apple sauce. The first lady and president, who were escorted by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, played with children, stopped for hugs and posed for photos with storm survivors.

Asked what his message was for the people of Texas, Trump said: “The message is that things are working out well. Really, I think people appreciate what’s been done. It’s been done very efficiently, very well, and that’s what we want. We’re very happy with the way everything is going. A lot of love. There’s a lot of love.”

When you are simply a pathological liar and you have lost ALL credibility, it's a little too late to pretend to be something you are not.

We know who you are - and once you get your smart phone back from your minders, I'm sure you will go back to your old self.

Next tweet: "How many of these refugees are rapists and drug dealers? Where's ICE, Attorney General?"

And then there's Faux, which just makes shit up as they go along.

Here's hoping Hayes, Maddow, and O'Donnell pick this story up sometime this week. Time is of the essence.

It's no secret the GOP has adopted a party-specific policy to social policy and government aid in general (deliberately cutting federal funds to blue states, etc.)

The afternoon neo-con vehicle With All Due Respect was the worst (with Morning Joke, a close second). The weekends aren't much better (Joy Reid excluded) - though I should note I don' t watch much tv on weekends.

When msnbc finally ditched With All Due Respect in January, I knew their efforts to re-brand themselves as a Faux News-lite had finally been abandoned (for now).

Let's see what Rachel has to say about this FEMA story on Monday; I'd strongly encourage you to e-mail her about this at Rachel@msnbc.com, questionseverything. Let's see where this goes.

But I don't doubt what you're saying for a second. I e-mailed her to mention what you just pointed out - but please let Rachel know as well!

The more mentions of this they read, the more likely they are to at least look into this.

Thanks again!

heard on msnbc a few mins ago that it might be the homeless are not covered...it was not specific to this gentlemans question but it might be the reason

para phrasing here but...they said just because you are homeless before the disaster...do you need to be homeless after the disaster?

maybe they needed a permanent address to sign up?

I just want the aid distributed equally and fairly

thank you for your help

And thanks for keeping a close eye on all this. We'll definitely need to in the weeks and months to come, lest Cheeto turn this calamity into his biggest heist ever (much like Bush, Cheney, and accomplices like Eric Prince-of-darkness did with Iraq).

its the tall gentleman at about the 2:50 mark....they were staying with families and friends , so technically homeless

this is something that needs to change,,, being homeless before a flood is no reason to be denied help

I see what you mean. If that is in fact FEMA policy, it really should be amended - but good luck getting that from this administration.

We're lucky he hasn't installed Alex Jones as FEMA administrator, let alone improve FEMA in any substantive way.
