The leaders of the Senate panel investigating Russias election meddling are discussing whether to release an interim report that would focus on how to protect future U.S. elections ahead of the 2018 midterms.
Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and top Democrat Mark Warner of Virginia have had at least one meeting on the matter and plan to continue discussing it, Burr told POLITICO.
Thats one of the considerations that we have, Burr said. The vice chairman and I, weve had a preliminary meeting, but we havent firmed anything up.
Warner said the interim report would address election security meaning it likely would not provide a firm answer to the question of whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Moscow in its effort to use propaganda and hacked materials to sway the election toward President Donald Trump.

(562 posts)would be so refreshing to actually get any substantive information from the mindnumbingly corrupt GOP lead congress we pay for on a minor issue like Russian election interference. Sarcasm.
Meanwhile, Clinton was forced to publicly testify for 6 days on bullshit (by comparison) Benghazi 5 months after it started, then got railroaded by Comey for the all important private server bullshit.
The GOP just runs roughshod and while democrats are called snowflakes and pussies all day. What a time to be alive.

(562 posts)Venting a little...With due respect to Senator Warner, I just see foot-dragging and obstruction on the senate side, and the house is blatantly obstructionist.
I know there's testimony being taken of Trump Jr, etc, behind closed doors - but the witnesses are well coached and regularly dodge or give non-answers like "I do not recall". Wasn't there a transcript of the Steele report due FFS?
I suppose the only thing preventing mass demonstrations is Mueller's appointment, also behind closed doors with no timeline. He's also being obstructed apparently...?
But I'd really love it if someone on democratic leadership made a bigger stink in public. Walking out quietly is what they want.
What they don't want is an Anthony Weiner going justifiably batshit and bringing mass media attention to their violations of congressional oath, assault on ethical guidelines, and blatant bullying. I just see Keith Olbermann and twitter posters doing it -its not their job. Their audience is limited.
I frankly thought Obama was overly meek for fear of racist backlash against him and minorities. Understandable. But we got it ANYWAY in SPADES.
So I feel like democrats have been cowering in comparison for a LONG time to authoritarian old shitbag white Republicans from red states and their dolt or elite followers, while they sit there eating popcorn enjoying Trump bullshit and verbally bash the hell out of minorities and "liberals" daily, and turns us into South Africa circa 1960.
