Special counsel Robert Mueller's team is requesting that witnesses turn in their personal phones to inspect their encrypted messaging programs and potentially view conversations between associates linked to President Donald Trump, sources told CNBC.

Fearing a subpoena, the witnesses have complied with the request and have given over their phones, the sources said.

While it's unclear what Mueller has discovered, if anything, through this new request, investigators seem to be convinced that the apps could be a key to exposing conversations that weren't previously disclosed to them.

2. Next, get Uday Trumps phone

Then we can discover the "blocked" number he phoned 3 times after the collusion meeting in Dotard Towers.

Tick tock, imbecile.......tick tock.

4. I've heard that Mueller probably already knows that.

FBI can request phone records and data from blocked numbers, no?

8. That's what I was going to say.

He was communicating with his "witness" buddies via an app that encrypted the conversations.

9. I bet that the ones who didn't respond

are breathing a sigh of relief. I am grateful to the few honest people who did report his illegal actions to the FBI/Mueller and let him know what he has been up to for months. His court date to decides if he should spend the rest of his time in jail is not until June 15th. He should be in there now! This is the second time (that we know of) where he broken probation. Earlier he wrote an op- ed piece with a Ukrainian pal of his to be published..."what a maroon" (and he CAN NOT be TRUSTED for a second!).

11. Hopefully....

after June 15th Mr. Manafort will never set foot outside a federal court or prison facility in his lifetime. That would send quite a message to the Orange Shit Stain in the White House.

13. Mueller can do that? Why would the witnesses fear a subpoena?

They should be used to that by now.

Haven't they had time to delete incriminating calls/texts?

This is so complex it boggles the mind.

14. Destruction of evidence?

Did many of them knowingly delete things they knew would be incriminating? I would think these people would. Which will also show their intent, and hide a cover up if they did.

16. These criminals thought they'd get away with witness tampering...

I think Mueller already has the messages. This is just to see who will try to delete or encrypt them in an effort to obstruct.

17. well its fine but that wont stop tampering

They may be able to find incriminating evidence on these phones, so thats good. On the other hand, any criminal worth his/her salt knows how to get a burner phone to do that shit. or get an unlocked phone and buy sims that you only use once.
We are lucky that this crew is a bunch of technological troglodytes. If they were competent on top of being corrupt we would be in a lot more trouble.
