RNC attendee tossed for harassing black CNN camerawoman

By Eric W. Dolan
Tuesday, August 28, 2012 22:58 EDT

Tuesday night in Tampa, an attendee at the Republican National Convention was escorted out of the building for allegedly harassing an African American woman.

Talking Points Memo reported that a man threw nuts at a black CNN camerawoman while saying, “This is how we feed animals.”

“CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment,” the network said in a statement.

The incident was first reported by Current TV host David Shuster.

Were you trying to defend CNN's decision not to publicize this event? You're the one who said reporters aren't supposed to be the news. My response was to meant to agree that they are not generally supposed to step outside of their professional status to create publicity for themselves unrelated to the job. This incident was totally the fault of the attacker and in no way constitutes the falsehood you suggest.

"You're the one who said reporters aren't supposed to be the news." hmmm Did I say that? Nope. I didn't suggest any falsehood but you can bet that CNN wants to continue to make big money from the RNC and GOP and won't let this incident of racism towards their employee get in the way of that profit. Sorry you took what I said the wrong way. No attack toward you was intended.

And

Did any of the on screen "talent" at CNN lift a pinkie in defense of their fellow employee or did they merely sit there in silence and allow one of their co workers to be abused by an ignorant piece of shit?

Forget the second question, it was rhetorical.

article so it sounds like they did do their job in protecting their employee because the offender was kicked out right?
Did it have to be on air talent or is it okay if a producer did the job?
While I do wish CNN would follow up and give us more info sidebar style, they probably appreciate the RNC throwing the guy out and don't want to insult the "host" after coming to their aid.
Sometimes manners do come into play in life after all.

Translation:

"CNN wishes to apologize to the RNC for bringing a Negro camerawoman into their convention and to assure the convention organizers that such an oversight will never happen again. The Negro has been terminated along with the liberal who hired her. Again we apologize for the disruption our thoughtless action has caused."

and recuse from reporting on incidents involving their own staff pending actions (or the lack thereof) by the RNC. Ironically Republicans would've demanded coverage in a case like the Virginian-Pilot journalists attacked by a mob of teenagers, because that incident feeds into the right wing racist "black on white crime" narrative.

Although David Letterman was joking, when he referred to the GOP convention theme as: "50 Shades of White", it holds more water than one would think.
This should be an embarrassment to the GOP, but I wonder how many people there when it happened thought it was "funny". I want no association with a party who displays such bigotry, arrogance, and lack of tolerance or intelligence. This is disgusting.
