Gov. Tom Wolf orders all Pennsylvania businesses that aren't 'life-sustaining' to close, will enforc

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer

Gov. Wolf has announced that all but “life-sustaining” businesses in Pennsylvania must close by 8 p.m. Thursday as the novel coronavirus continues to spread.
The governor had previously asked nonessential businesses such as salons, gyms, theaters, and entertainment venues to close. Under the new order, life-sustaining businesses that may continue physical operations include gas stations, farms, health care facilities, and transit systems, according to the Wolf administration.
The order applies to the city of Philadelphia, which previously had been allowed to impose and enforce its own restrictions.

That's gonna have an impact for sure.

Well, at least people who get stranded can buy a good bottle of booze and drink it on the streets.

Glass manufacturing is not life sustaining, so the glass plant in Carlisle will be shutting down. Unless my employers find alternative freight I might be doing nothing real soon.

Pharmacies are open.

I'm the youngest cashier at 61, so we're feeling as though we're in the danger zone.

If I go down, I hope it's for something important, not because a symptomatic sugar addict can't lay off the damned King Size Reese's Pieces for a little while.

They aren't even providing cleaning supplies to their employees. Their employees are being instructed to ignore law enforcement when ordered to close. Reason $873 to never shop there ever.

I would not go that far out on a limb for my employer. Are they offering bail and legal services to employees who get arrested? I kind of doubt it.

They all need licenses to operate in a state and here in PA, they'll just pull their licenses.

Here in Philly, the nation's largest mall owners ("Simon Property Group" ) had one mall that was defying the closure and our mayor Jim Kenney - literally during his presser a couple days ago after being informed that the Philadelphia Mills Mall was still open - publicly said that he was sending the police and Licenses and Inspection to the Mall to shut them down. Within minutes of them hearing that, the started hustling people out of the stores.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia Mills mall in Northeast Philly closed at 7 p.m. Wednesday after the city asked the police department to shut it down. The mall remained open despite a city order that nonessential businesses need to shut down by Monday to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

City officials criticized the mall Wednesday afternoon.
