Trump says he is mobilizing 'heavily armed' military to stop protests

Source: ABC News

National Guard troops were deployed near the White House Monday evening hours after President Donald Trump said he wanted a military show of force against violent protests gripping the nation.

Shortly after, Trump came to the White House Rose Garden to call himself the "law and order" president, saying "domestic terrorism" was to blame for the unrest.

"As we speak, I am dispatching thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers, military personnel, and law enforcement officers to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism, assaults, and the wanton destruction of property," he said. "We will end it now."

He called on governors to use their National Guard units to "dominate the streets" said he would deploy the United States active duty military if governors failed to use the National Guard more forcefully. He said he may invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act, which permits a president to deploy military inside the U.S. to deal with civil disorder.

Trump is going full dictator simultaneously taunting protesters and opponents and threatening to use overwhelming military force against his critics.

One day he is invoking the First Amendment to cheer on protests against efforts to save American lives, then he uses the military to stop mostly peaceful protests against his regime.

Set your wayback machine to 1963...

President Kennedy, in sending military riot-control units to bases near Birmingham, said this Government will do whatever must be done to preserve order, to protect the lives of its citizens, and to uphold the law of the He also directed that a proclamation and executive order be drafted so that he could order the Alabama National Guard into immediate federal service if violence erupts again.

I don't think George Wallace welcomed this.

the right of Americans to go armed. If we're really lucky, he's just so dumb that he can't say 'amendment' without putting 'second' in front of it by now; but far more likely is he wants his base to take their weapons out and about, and he wants some fights in which they kill people. To "dominate" them. And he can then say "oh, it was just private citizens, not me or my orders".

Yeah, that's just the thing to quiet things down. Bring heavily armed troops to face off with protestors armed with words an signs. I suppose this will be yet another reason for his death-cult to think Trump "manly" and "a strong leader". The fucking idiot certainly can't talk anyone down. All he can do is incite and divide, never calm and unify. He's such a weak and inefficacious little toad.

32. The line between Martial Law
Tue Jun 2, 2020, 02:24 AM

and The Insurrection Act is blurry. As I understand it, one of the chief differences is that Martial Law can employ military tribunals to try you. So, when the court system is closed down for any reason (such as a pandemic,) you could get caught up in this situation.

tRump has already announced that he wants rioters to be arrested, charged, and CONVICTED. And, he wants the sentences to be 5 to 10 years under Federal law.

He has the right under our law to invoke the Act. A lot of our fate depends on what the individual soldier does and thinks about it. I think that for the most part they will do what they are ordered. We have a lot to think about here.

We need to keep our eyes on the prize. We must massively vote Blue, via mail or any other way to get your legitimate vote counted. Cadet Bone Spurs must not be left in office.

Keep maintaining your masks and social distancing. We're on our own there, and if you get sick, you probably won't get any help. Trump is too busy showing his "dominance" to think about a pesky pandemic.

WE WILL WIN. We can't let this prick win and take our country. He isn't worthy. My G-d, he seems to be calling Putin for advice. If he called him on the phone, you know that G7 wasn't the only subject discussed.

Stick together. Stay safe. Eat a lot of chocolate.
