National Guard fired shot that killed Louisville restaurant owner
Source: Lexington Herald Leader
David McAtee, a black restaurant owner who was fatally shot amid protests last week in Louisville, was killed by a bullet fired by the Kentucky National Guard, a state official said Tuesday.
J. Michael Brown, Gov. Andy Beshears executive cabinet secretary, said lab tests have concluded McAtee was killed by a single gunshot wound to the chest from a bullet fired by a National Guard officer.
Officials have not yet been able to determine the exact weapon the bullet was fired from. Two guardsmen and two officers with the Louisville Metro Police Department fired at least 18 bullets in McAtees direction that evening, Brown said.
The fatal shot came from the National Guard, Brown said. We have no doubt about that.

If so, it's a bit more complex.

(27 posts)My thought is is thought he was being shot at and returned fire. You can't really say what was in his mind but that's my thought.

(251 posts)As hard as we try to build community, something from outside like this blows it up. I really am shocked and as a native Louisvillian, part of the 'Ville', I was stunned before this, now I just don't know what to think. Fuck all of the racist bastards to have so fucked up the ideas of this nation. When this nightmare is over, I want to see the republican thuggery walk the plank in the abyss of their own hate for this.

*Oh okay, I think I see now. He must be the guy in the red shirt? It does look like he fires, and there is someone else who is also armed. Still hard to tell for sure what came first, though. The guy was for sure armed and fired, though. Although, the reactions of the national guard and police may suggest he fired first based on how they took cover. I dunno, though.
