Florida bans drinking at bars again as COVID-19 cases spike

Source: The Herald-Tribune

Florida is banning drinking at bars again as the state experiences a big surge in coronavirus cases.

Halsey Beshears, the secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, made the announcement about bars on Twitter Friday.

“Effective immediately, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation is suspending on premises consumption of alcohol at bars statewide,” Beshears tweeted.

Florida’s bars were shutdown for two months to try and contain the spread of the coronavirus. Gov. Ron DeSantis allowed them to reopen in early June, but since then Florida has experienced a big wave of new coronavirus cases.

2. This won't change until they start enforcing bars & restaurants at 50% capacity.

They are being filled to the brim right now in some locations. They also need to made masks mandatory when outside the home & not exercising, or when you have contact with others, enforce social distancing and close anywhere that this isn't happening, like lots of beaches & parks. Mini-me isn't serious about this at all, he's just afraid of infuriating seniors, but it won't work, he's already lost us and he wouldn't have won without cheating and voter suppression with their strict signature matching BS software.

5. Are you telling me the bars are open

but they cannot serve alcohol? What the hell does that do? The problem is the people in the bars not the alcohol. Of course I suppose nobody is going to go so they are in essence shutting them down without saying they are closing businesses.

7. I think

They are not allowing drinking onsite, but are allowing people to buy drinks and take them out.

10. Read the fineprint, restaurant/bars that get less than 51% of income from alcohol can still serve

"6 pack to go" Any bar that wants to sell carryout containers can do so for off premise drinking.
