Pence, Harris teams at odds over plexiglass at debate
Source: Washington Post
Vice President Pence is requesting that no plexiglass dividers be placed on his side of the stage at Wednesday nights vice-presidential debate, after an announcement Monday by the Commission on Presidential Debates that dividers had been agreed to as a safety measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Marc Short, the vice presidents chief of staff, said the vice presidents team does not view plexiglass dividers as medically necessary, given other safety measures at the debate, including a 12-foot distance between Pence and Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.) and daily testing of both candidates.
The commission and the Biden campaign both said Tuesday they understood that the Pence team was in agreement with the notion of plexiglass barriers. But the Pence team suggested they did not want any such dividers around the vice president, regardless of what Harris does.

If she wants it, shes more than welcome to surround herself with plexiglass if that makes her feel more comfortable, Short said. Its not needed.

(152 posts)And it may help. Trump and Pence are being unreasonable. The Biden/Harris Campaign should insist on it. If the debate gets cancelled, Trump and Pence will be blamed.

I actully doubt Pence gives a shit about the plexiglass, but would most likely love an excuse to duck the debate.

Or maybe turn the tables. No shields, no masks, no social distancing. How do you like them apples, Pence?

(2,354 posts)Ive been asking this for the last week here at home....why cant all remaining debates be done by zoom? Esp where its a public safety issue.
They are speaking to a practically empty room. Zoom would work just as well in that regard and everyone would run zero risk of infection. I think the debate commission should require it.
