Biden holds 11-point lead over Trump in Florida in new Quinnipiac poll

Democratic nominee Joe Biden has opened up an 11-point lead over President Trump in Florida, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday.

The poll shows Biden garnering 51 percent of the vote in the Sunshine State compared to Trump’s 40 percent. That’s a remarkably wide margin for a state where elections are typically decided by only a few points. Other recent surveys out of Florida show a much tighter race.

A Quinnipiac poll of the state released early last month showed Biden with only a 3-point advantage over Trump. FiveThirtyEight’s current polling average of the state shows Biden with a 3.7-point advantage over Trump.

Quinnipiac polling released on Wednesday also showed Biden leading Trump 54-41 percent in Pennsylvania and 50-45 percent in Iowa.

...Quinnipiac has a definite Democratic lean this year. So you can probably take a few points off that, but it’s still favorable.

Excerpt straight from the poll:

...
FLORIDA: Biden 51%, Trump 40%

PENNSYLVANIA: Biden 54%, Trump 41%

IOWA: Biden 50%, Trump 45%

IOWA SENATE: Greenfield 50%, Ernst 45%

In the wake of last week's presidential debate and President Donald Trump's COVID-19 diagnosis, former Vice President Joe Biden is widening his lead over President Trump among likely voters in both Pennsylvania and Florida, according to a Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pea-ack) University poll in both of these states released today.

In the first Quinnipiac University Poll of Iowa likely voters, Biden has a slight lead over Trump in the race for president.

This poll was conducted between October 1st and 5th in all three states.

"In varying degrees, three critical states in three very different parts of the country come to the same ominous conclusion. The president's hopes for re-election are growing dimmer by the day," said Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy.

In Florida, likely voters support Biden over Trump 51 - 40 percent. That compares to a September 3rd Florida poll showing Biden with 48 percent support and Trump with 45 percent support. Among party affiliation, the biggest change is among independents, who now support Biden by a twenty-point margin compared to a ten- point margin a month ago.

In Pennsylvania, likely voters support Biden over Trump 54 - 41 percent. That compares to a September 3rd poll when Biden received 52 percent support to Trump's 44 percent.

In Iowa, likely voters support Biden over Trump 50 - 45 percent. Democrats back Biden 98 - 2 percent, independents are divided with 48 percent supporting Biden and 43 percent for Trump, while Republicans back Trump 91 - 6 percent.

Reopening Florida with 2000 plus cases a day was insane and will likely result in another huge spike in mostly blue counties as the election draws near.

Of course with higher population they will have more. But in Orange County we still all wear masks.

But I was in Citrus County for 2 nights last weekend. A very white and thus red county. Rural. They act like it’s all over.

The wife talked to a friend/acquaintance on Monday. Lives in rural Pasco county. She has lost a relatively young BIL and an Uncle who was old. The BIL refused to admit the possibility he had Covid. Waited till he was almost dead before going to the hospital. Trumpers all. Even after all that the lady told my wife it will all go away after the election. They are cult members. Happy to die for him.

In 2018 when Tom Wolf ran for re-election for PA governor, his opponent Scott Wagner was essentially a Trump clone. The polls showed Wolf ahead by 15+pts. No one really believed it, but in the end, Wolf won by 17 pts, 58-41.

Doesn't carry much weight legally and I think most business ignored it but it showed Seniors what Trump would do if given the chance to really kill off Social Security.

to see a Dem win Florida by 11 points. I agree but a win is a win. If we beat him by 5 points it would be awful. Razor thin will be stolen by Trump’s mini me.

It would be Florida giving him the big middle finger pretty much telling him he isn't welcome to be a resident.
