Trump allies raising millions for new conservative TV network: report

Source: The Hill

Allies of President Trump have reportedly looked into investing in the conservative new outlet Newsmax to compete with Fox News, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal published on Sunday.

Hicks Equity Partners, a private-equity firm with connections to a co-chair of the Republican National Committee, have been in discussions in recent months with the media company about investing in Newsmax. WSJ reports the talks may also be part of larger efforts that could include a streaming video service.

Trump's allies have been exploring ways to compete with Fox News for the last two years, according to WSJ. Trump’s relationship with the network has been complicated. He has often shown appreciation for the support he receives from Fox News hosts and the networks coverage of his presidency has often influenced decisions he's made inside the White House. He has also lashed out at the network when it criticized him.

Trump recently posted a flurry of anti-Fox News tweets that attacked the network and lamented that it had forgotten the "golden goose" that made it successful.

Will it jerk them further to the right to avoid loss of market-share?

Will it possibly inspire them to become a legitimate news organization, instead of a breeding ground for empty-headed, bleach-blonde opinion influencers?

If Trump wants to go after Fox, he is going after Murdoch. The Murdoch family are every bit is ruthless as the Trump family, and they are not a family of idiots. The Murdoch bunch, has had decades of successful production experience behind them, a big pile of cash and a ready-made team, audience and advertisers. If Trump takes them on, it will be just one more in a long line of failures ending in bankruptcies. Trump will lose a lot of opm. (pronounced as "opium" meaning other people's money)

Trump is now a demoralized loser who can't even face his people in his despair, he is deeply depressed and sulking like a child. He is mentally unsound, morally bankrupt, in debt over his head and is facing years of civil and criminal legal battles. Do you really think that he can challenge Fox. The other issues is, now, today, if Murdoch gets enough of Trumps lip, he is liable to use the "News" to destroy what little is left of Trump, and he has the power to do it.

That the proper term for the Trump family is "batshit crazy." I just wanted to use the softer and gentler term.

I personally don't think that they are as crazy as they are just pure evil, but I am just a plumber, what do I know?

Hotels, golf courses, casinos, Fox News all use the name Trump to increase their revenue.

He'll die soon--probably because his ego can't stand losing, or he's afraid of prison--and then his grifter children will have to experience life without Daddy's money and his brand. Trump is not a business or political movement, it's a cult.

Why would Trump bother to be player for NewsMax when he can start his own branded network? I can see the current/past WH Press secretaries and assorted sycophants getting their own hourly slots to spread the Trump lies while venerating Trump. And he gets exclusive selling rights to the MAGA franchise.

but I swear to god, if the mainstream media covers their swill, and provides a route for the crackpottery to make it into the daily national public discourse, then this country is truly doomed.

red don's endeavor has real impact only if he gets coverage in the national press. Frequently. And given his beneficial impact on ratings, I can't see the money behind the big networks failing to give him a platform. Then he goes from the berserk fringe to the "credible" "counterpart" to Biden.

I saw a guy from nutmax so excited on cable (cnn?) shortly after the election I assumed this was the choice for Trump. Fox will still rein, due to the habits of people, but newsmax will gain viewership due to the celebrity. Wild times we're living in folks.

On edit: it is extremely possible Trump is lying to newsmax. This isn't breaking news by any measure. He's weighing his options and seeing what flies here. We shall see. Either way, duel it out nut jobs. I'll bring popcorn and plenty of waters for all my friends.
