Graham defends McConnell following Trump's scathing statement: 'Indispensable to Trump's success'

Source: MSN

“President Trump's statement today in response to what McConnell said Saturday is very predictable. I remind everybody, Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment was don't speak ill of fellow Republicans,” Graham said. He later added, “Mitch McConnell working with Donald Trump did a hell of a job. They are now at each other's throat. I’m more worried about 2022 than I’ve ever been. I don’t want to eat our own.”

They failed to take it. As a political strategy, it was extremely short-term thinking. Trump has been permanently banned from Twitter. His actions on and before January 6 caused several thousand Republicans to leave the Party. But McConnell wanted the chance to become Majority Leader again in 2022. I think that clouded his judgment for the longer term because he and others in Congress just handed the continued leadership of the Republican Party to Trump, who will drive it to even more extremes. Trump will help elect more Marjorie Taylor Greenes—people who have no policies, only the wish to destroy democracy and set up their own white supremacist government. Moderates and Independents will not vote for a party like that indefinitely. So McConnell sacrificed the party for his own power. No surprise there.

If he falls still straddling that line, he's going to have an even higher speaking voice.

I'd have them ground up and fed to dogs, although my love for dogs tempers my enthusiasm for the project.
