2 sheriff's deputies killed in Concho County, suspect arrested by Texas Rangers

CONCHO COUNTY, Texas -- A 28-year-old man is in the Tom Green County jail Tuesday morning, charged with two counts of capital murder of a peace officer or fireman.

Jeffrey Vincent Nicholas was booked at 5:38 a.m. Tuesday. Bond has been set at $2 million per count.

Details are limited, however, the arrest record shows the incident happened in Concho County Monday night and the arresting agency was the Texas Rangers.

Requests for information have been sent to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Concho County is sparsely populated with a population just over 4,000 people.

UPDATE:
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at approximately 8:40 p.m. Monday, Concho County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Bryan Street for a dog complaint.

Two deputies and an Eden city employee arrived on scene and made contact with individuals at the home where an altercation escalated to gunfire.

Two Concho County Sheriff's Office deputies were killed and the city employee was critically injured.

The Texas Rangers are investigating and more information will be released as it becomes available.

7. I'd guess they may have taken his clothes for forensics

and the bulletproof vest is what they had around to 'dress' him for the mugshot.

10. I don't think that is a vest at all.....

It looks like a suicide prevention gown. They give those to inmates suspected of being suicidal and then put them in a special cell.

You can't hang yourself with any part of it the way its designed.......
