Exclusive data: Trump's traffic flop

Source: Axios

The blog from former President Trump originally touted as his own social media 'platform' generated engagement roughly on par with the top posts from mid-market local newspapers, according to exclusive data from NewsWhip.

Why it matters: Even with his considerable base of support, Trump was unable to defy the laws of social media physics by getting political followers to change their habits.

The move to shut down the page this week acknowledged the flawed assumption that if you build it, they will come.

The big picture: The numbers, a far cry from the audience Trump commanded with his Twitter and Facebook accounts, show the limits of Trump's power without access to the biggest platforms.

2. It's rumored...

that IQ45 thought it had been pitched to him as the "bacon of freedom" and demanded that it be shut down after he found out that wasn't the actual tag line.

4. Translation: they didn't make payments to their bots

Service, so now they have no one to pump up the numbers.

7. A blog page with comments turned off is not social media.

You can put up a tent and call it a circus, but without engagement it's just an empty tent.

I think the former guy and his people misunderstand the phrase "social media platform".

9. His cult flocked to him when he was president

Because he actually had the ability to make changes and could brag about whatever his latest "own the libs" action was. Now he's just a golf club owner who doesn't understand the work necessary to become an influencer - nor would put in the effort to do so. I wonder if his rallies that he keeps saying he's planning on bringing back will be the same. There's only so much old stuff you can bring back up and complaining about the current situation until you become the equivalent of a once-popular, now-bitter rock band playing county fairs.

10. If Trump would have spent money on Fox News advertising his website, he would have succeeded

But either he doesn't have the money or was too cheap.

Imagine the commercials: "'Your master summons you to his website for a rally' with a photo of the bloated former guy holding an AK-47." Fox News viewers would have flocked there. His supporters couldn't resist.

11. His Cash Flow Is Brutally Bad

Revenues down, debt service high, promissory notes coming due, asset values falling (forget borrowing, plus he's already overleveraged), ...
Remember he bragged about donating his POTUS pay, but as soon as he got exiled to Florida, he started collecting the presidential pension.
He doesn't have the money.
He's always been a fake billionaire, worth far less than claimed. Now, it's even worse, as it's likely debt exceeds total asset value.

12. I checked it out, every post was hidden behind the same title

I checked it out, every post was hidden behind the same title, not even a subject of preview. Very low quality.
