Leaked letter reveals allegations that Southern Baptist leaders mishandled sex abuse claims

Source: Axios

A letter obtained by the Washington Post outlines new allegations that Southern Baptist Convention leaders mishandled sexual abuse claims.

The state of play: The letter, written by Russell Moore, former head of the SBC Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, claims that institutional leaders bullied a sexual abuse victim.

Moore specifically names people in the SBC's Executive Committee who he says intimidated any person who spoke out about abuses in the church.

He also details how some institutional leaders exonerated churches with credible allegations of negligence of sexual abuse victims, which he says put the lives of "vulnerable children and others" affiliated with the church at risk.

.... when the Duggar story broke and they knew that the "elder" in their church who was a chaplain at the youth sex offender facility was also an ordained Southern Baptist minister.

It figures that the one who was willing to say something then is getting railroaded by the SBC.

Maybe young people are “coming to Jesus” but don’t like the SBC.

Or maybe young people prefer being kind to their neighbors as opposed to being harangued about sex or how liberals are evil.

Or maybe organized religion is collapsing.

700 reported sexual abuse.

I left long before that came out. Every year the Southern Baptist Convention was a cat fight among warring tribes. One wanted to bring the Church into this century. The other side of die hard Evangelicals did not. They sicken me.

to the Catholic Church. If you have any organization where the members are required to submit to a leader, you are going to see these kind of things.

then we can move to rational thinking and problem solving w/o these pretenses getting in the way.

The opiate of the masses they used to say...nothing good ever came out of opiate addiction.
When you start to look at religuos people as addicts you start to see the same pattern's of behavior.

These are my opinion's on religuos people that I have known all my life... and never want to see again.

I see a piece on Catholic sex abuse, it backtracks to a Baptist. They are the cult of projection, blaming others and cover up. I grew up in a heavily Baptist area and believe me, the Baptists are far worse than Catholics when it comes to sex abuse, infidelity, spousal abuse, hating blacks, hating gays, and more. The youth leader screwing some of the girls (and the girls quite happy with it, until one get PG) the choir leader screwing the organist, bot married to other people, the deacon's wife coming to church with sunglasses on to hide a black eye. All within 3 Baptist churches. Even the pastor (in a dry state) was caught making booze in the basement.

The Southern Baptists have always been a cult of white superiority, too. They think that Catholics are going to hell because they worship idols. Nevermind the paintings of white Jesus on the church. And if you look at the hate for gays, the anti abortionists, the haters who light crosses in the night, you will find they are Baptists.
