Exclusive: Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows subpoenaed by special counsel in Jan. 6 investigation
Source: CNN
Donald Trumps former chief of staff Mark Meadows has been subpoenaed by the special counsel investigating the former president and his role in the January 6, 2021, insurrection, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.
Special counsel Jack Smiths office is seeking documents and testimony related to January 6, and Meadows received the subpoena sometime in January, the source said. An attorney for Meadows declined to comment.
The Justice Department did not respond to CNNs request for comment on the subpoena.
The move to subpoena one of Trumps most senior aides in addition to the recent subpoena of former Vice President Mike Pence, as CNN reported last week marks the latest significant step in the special counsels investigation into Trumps role in seeking to overturn the outcome of the 2020 election.

(6,630 posts)The point is the inability to make potential crimes actually stick, to anyone, even pedophiles for trafficking.
Not that hard to figure out what the poster meant.

(24,284 posts)So it was hard to decipher what that posters actual point was.
As far as your point- it is indeed a tragedy that the only witnesses (in particular, Greenberg) to Gaetz alleged crimes had previously falsely claimed that other co-conspirators involved in their past crimes had also engaged in child trafficking.
How do you think that would unfold on the witness stand?

(6,630 posts)The credibility of the witnesses.
The witnesses were either criminals themselves or victims, whose stories were questionable.
Remember?

(61,033 posts)not Meadows. There are quite a few issues going on but the Gaetz and Meadows ones are not the same thing.

(61,033 posts)" I learn something new every time I watch her show.
I learned a lot today about DOJ not indicting Matt Gaetz. The presiding judge said that in his 22 years on the bench no one has given up more information than Joel Greenberg. Also, if it was too tough to indict Gaetz for sex trafficking there were several other crimes he could have been indicted for. Also, Nicolle asked the question, why did Gaetz ask for a pardon? Matt Gaetz thought he was guilty."
Also see post 12 on the thread. It's not rocket science.

(13,283 posts)But if he lies during his sworn testimony, which Jack Smith will know right away, he certainly will become one. And if he doesn't lie, Trump will become one.
Smith is cornering Meadows: it is either Meadows' ass or Trump's. The testimony will determine which one it is, and on what charges.

I'm thinking Meadows. Pence still thinks he'll run for office.
