Climate change impeding fight against AIDS, TB and malaria

LONDON, Sept 18 (Reuters) - Climate change and conflict are hitting efforts to tackle three of the world's deadliest infectious diseases, the head of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has warned.

International initiatives to fight the diseases have largely recovered after being badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Fund’s 2023 results report released on Monday. But the increasing challenges of climate change and conflict mean the world is likely to miss the target of putting an end to AIDS, TB and malaria by 2030 without “extraordinary steps”, said Peter Sands, executive director of the Global Fund.

For example, malaria is spreading to highland parts of Africa that were previously too cold for the mosquito carrying the disease-causing parasite.

Extreme weather events like floods are overwhelming health services, displacing communities, causing upsurges in infection and interrupting treatment in many different places, the report said. In countries including Sudan, Ukraine, Afghanistan and Myanmar, simply reaching vulnerable communities has also been immensely challenging due to insecurity, it added.

3. Global Warming impedes EVERYTHING

Including my ability to buy 1st-class onions at the grocery store.

Note: I'm boycotting the term "climate change" because said term was invented by Frank Luntz so GOPhers could sound kinder and gentler when discussing their ongoing murder of the ecosphere.

5. Impeding progress in developing nations, of all kinds, has been a colonial priority for a long time.

Bandaid solutions aren’t needed or wanted anymore, other nations will fill the void the West never wanted to.

G78 and China…any one else hear of the message they sent to the West at all …as the mass media only gave passing and derogatory mention…too much truth! Too much China not being an enemy! Cant have that!

Don’t forget…those nations have mass media also…they listen, they learn.

Clear as a bell…the past is gone, the worlds not white masses are looking to the future and it does not have to be one beholden to dollar driven capitalism.
