400 Agents, One Arrest: The Truth About Trump's ICE Raids Revealed

Source: Daily Beast

Updated Feb. 8 2025 2:47AM EST
Published Feb. 7 2025 6:02PM EST

After 100 ICE agents spent five hours on the ground looking for criminal migrants in Chicago last week, only two people were arrested, the New York Post reported.

In Denver and Aurora, Colorado, which President Donald Trump decried as the epicenter of migrant violence tied to Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua gang, an eye-popping 400 ICE agents were dispatched Wednesday. By the day’s end—and after knocking on hundreds of doors, including those of U.S. citizens—only one Tren de Aragua member was taken into custody, sources told ABC News.

That lone arrest is a far cry from the 100-plus gang members ICE hoped to nab—success the agency has enjoyed in certain raids, like in New York. Border czar Tom Homan suggested the Colorado raid flopped because the gang had been tipped off by local media coverage. But it’s that coverage, and a broader “PR blitz,” that appears to be propping up the first weeks of Trump’s migration crackdown.

Trump’s team has flooded the zone with much-hyped arrest figures posted to X and turned ICE raids into a spectacle—complete with celebrity embeds like Dr. Phil and “ICE Barbie” Nancy Mace tagging along. “Much of this is optics and not reality,” immigration attorney Elizabeth Ricci, who has represented migrants in every administration since George H. W. Bush, told the Daily Beast this week.

They manufactured a universe in their drug-addled minds that doesn't exist, yet repeated the descriptions of it enough times that gullible people believed it - all in order to "own the libs". And over time, they apparently started to hallucinate, believing that it was like they described... But when they actually attempted to "operate" in that fake universe that didn't exist, "reality" bit them in the ass.

If we’re going to go after the budgets of every government agency responsible for a safe; healthy; functioning society…

…we’re damned well going to demand the costs associated with these racist; xenophobic raids not operate under the cover of darkness and financial oversight.

400 agents for ONE arrest…

You're more likely to get one good picture if you take 1000 bad ones, less so if you only try 100 times.

The concentration of their effort likely pulled 2 legitimate arrests. But it's expensive to throw all your spaghetti at the wall every time to find the two strands that are sticky.

They'd do better with precision investigations instead of brute force, but the Felon enjoys hearing hundreds of boots tramping on the ground for him.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, whose goons are backing up a truck to the Treasury as we speak.

Everything, everywhere, all at once, to confuse and overwhelm us.

Let's stay focused because the only way out is through.

The narrative should be: "Hundreds of innocent people harassed and terrorized to make one arrest. Why?"

A family in our community from Coahuila was arrested by these clowns. Tejas used to be united with Coahuila.

is EXACTLY what you were indicating - the harassment and terrorizing for tee vee.

I obviously can't put the whole article in (4-paragraph limit) but later in the OP article is this -

(snip)

There are also growing fears that migrants without criminal records may soon be subject to arrest and removal to keep ICE figures high (and Trump happy).

Héctor Quiroga, an immigration attorney in Houston, has already seen some evidence of this.

“I have observed a significant rise in the detention of individuals without criminal records,” he told the Daily Beast on Friday. “Even more concerning, some detainees have been denied immediate access to legal counsel, a clear violation of their rights.”

Quiroga noted that ICE does not need to give advance notice to carry out a raid. This makes them “highly unpredictable,” and could lead to a migrant being arrested, even without a criminal record.

Isn't this a common characteristic of failing empires and ideologies? When those who sell the kool-aid begin drinking it themselves. Like Caligula who believed himself to be a god. I remember Trump saying, "I am the Chosen One" as he looked heavenward during a random interview.

20. Owning the libs is not their major motivation-- they are creating a show by removing the "illegals" for the MAGAs
Sat Feb 8, 2025, 03:23 PM

Immigrants in general and undocumented immigrants in particular have been scapegoated as the "other" who said to create a crime wave in the US and helping liberals destroy "traditional" values. Trump has the MAGAs falsely believing that they are voting as well --for liberals. Trump is a hero to MAGAs by trying to remove them. The biggest praise for him from MAGAs that I've heard, comes from the ICE sweeps. This fits in with the national conservatism movement sweeping Europe and now the US, which is strongly anti-immigrant, pro traditionalism and nationalism.

The nationalist side of national conservatism and "legacy" is why he wants to add some territory to the US-- Greenland or Canada seem to be his targets. This too has little to do with owning the libs.

Pruning the government has long been a goal of conservatives to eliminate "regulations" and save money, which they believe will allow them to cut taxes and give more money back to everyone, especially the rich. This is why Elon Musk remains in Trump's good graces despite "people saying" that Musk is the real President. This will certainly disturb liberals, but again not their main motivation which is to be acknowledged as the greatest conservative ever.

it is most certainly a part of that.

In fact, the Democratic Party's "big tent" is made up of mostly the people THEY abhor.

Their whole shtick has NEVER been about the "Price of eggs", "Kitchen table issues", "Working class".

It is ALL about racism, sexism, antisemitism, anti-LGBT+, anti-any-religion-(or none)-but-RW-loon-evangelicalism, and that includes embracing xenophobia and "nativism" - the original having been "anti-Catholic". Millions of Irish Catholics migrated here to the U.S. during that time (and they are STILL coming here but they can "blend in" better).

How the 19th-Century Know Nothing Party Reshaped American Politics

The infamous "Dred Scott" case happened during that period in the 1800s and they want to take us back to that (the 14th Amendment addressed the Dred Scott issue regarding "natural born citizens" / "birthright citizenship" ).

I think defeating those who oppose their anti-immigrant policies is satisfying to them, but they care much more about maintaining their traditional culture with all that implies as you mention. An example is Germany, where there was a strong reaction against Turkish immigration more because of religious and cultural differences than anything other "ism"-- since they are all white Europeans.

23. Most of the world's countries are generally "homogeneous"
Sat Feb 8, 2025, 05:06 PM

where ethnic minorities have been and continue to be targeted and attacked.

The U.S. however, was never "homogeneous" during the colonization period, so we continue to have these ridiculous cycles of some group attempting to become "dominant" in order to make it "homogeneous".

Pump people with enough mis- and disinformation, and you appeal to their visceral sense of wanting to be "superior", and that is what was done in the run up of this past election, which is something that some Democrats don't seem to "get" when they keep insisting on it was all about "Price of eggs", "Kitchen table issues", "Working class".

Clawing people out of their man-made fictional universes is DIFFICULT which is why all these "diversity" programs were implemented in the first place (to "teach" ). They did have a positive enough effect to allow the election of the first black President, but then THAT was the "last straw", which brings us here to day with what is going on - the result of a 17-year long avalanche of head-explosions.
