Staffers for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) were shut out of the U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) headquarters in D.C. on Wednesday, amid an escalating fight over leadership of the agency. Several DOGE workers tried to enter the agencys office in Washington on Wednesday but were unable to access it, the USADF confirmed to The Hill. The staffers eventually left the building, the agency said. The Hill reached out to DOGE for comment.
The agencys chair, Ward Brehm, wrote in a letter to a DOGE staffer obtained by The Hill that he specifically instructed the staff of USADF to adhere to our rules and procedure of not allowing any meetings of this type without my presence.
President Trump is reportedly attempting to install Peter Marocco, the deputy acting head of the U.S. Agency for International Aid (USAID) who has overseen Trumps attempts to gut the agency, to lead the USADF. Marocco was reportedly present alongside the DOGE team Wednesday.
Brehm in his letter suggested that Trump needed to officially appoint Marocco to the independent agencys board before he has power over its operations. I will look forward to working with Mr. Marocco after such time that he is nominated for a seat on the Board and his nomination is confirmed by the Senate, Brehm said in the letter. Until these legal requirements are met, Mr. Marocco does not hold any position or office with USADF, and he may not speak or act on the Foundations behalf.

This is what they ALL need to do if there is no "confirmed" person "in charge".

(96,483 posts)ALL the agencies and departments should have done from the start. I think there are directions in the definition of operations and security for each entity that prohibits unauthorized access to (in some cases the buildings) anything and especially sensitive information.

Unfortunately, there are now too many Project 2025 people in charge who are cooperating with Musk because they share the goal of destroying their agencies or remaking them into Trumps personal workforce that works only for him.

(1,492 posts)Someone said this earlier, but it bears repeating- this is what every Federal Agency should have been doing since the start- resist and do not admit these illegal criminal actors into any federal facility, especially areas with sensitive information systems. Agency leadership and the Federal Protective Service should not admit anyone to their buildings that are there illegally, and this means DOGE.
All Feds take oaths to defend the Constitution and they need to stand their ground and not admit these criminals. I know this is not an easy thing for a Federal worker or Security worker to do, but it is important that they do so. These DOGE people are a threat to the country and are enemies of the Constitution. So I applaud these Federal workers who are resisting and I hope to see more of this throughout the Federal Government.

(232 posts)President Donald Trump convened a Cabinet-level meeting Thursday morning to tell the heads of the agencies that they are in charge of the agencies and departments they oversee -- not Elon Musk, multiple sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.
Musk was in the room for the meeting when Trump told top officials that Musk's role is to make recommendations and not unilateral decisions -- whether it be about staffing decisions or policy matters, the sources said.
