TSA picked up record 65 guns in carry-on bags last week
Source: UPI
The Transportation Security Administration found a record 65 guns in carry-on luggage last week, just a few weeks after setting a record of 50 firearms found. A passenger at Salt Lake City received a pat-down after an anomaly was detected during advanced imaging technology screening. Officers discovered a fully loaded .22 caliber firearm strapped to his prosthetic leg. The passenger was arrested on a state charge of carrying a concealed weapon in a secure area. Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth airports tied for 5 guns each. In Atlanta, three were loaded, and one had rounds chambered. At DFW, three firearms were loaded and two had rounds chambered. In addition, TSA agents found 12 stun guns, inert grenades, realistic replicas, razor blades, ammunition, and "a lot of sharp pointy things." An unloaded musket was recovered at Orlando International Airport. Read more: http://www.upi.com/blog/2013/05/25/TSA-picked-up-record-65-guns-in-carry-on-bags-last-week/8541369507858/

1. Is this because they forgot
to pack them in carry on? Really? How could they forget something like that! I'm guessing they weren't up to anything but well this is one of the first times I'm glad the TSA is on the job. Usually they harass people too much.

7. This doesn't change the fact that the TSA has molested, stole from customers, shared nude images of
air travelers, and harassed passengers since day 1 of their employment at airports.
There MUST be another way to guarantee the safety of Air travelers. I actually think things are going to get much worse, that is until America ceases occupying sovereign nations in order to prop up its PETRODOLLAR reserve currency. If America continues to illegally occupy nations, torture and rape citizens, and incite radicalism than America will only become more and more unsafe. It's time to end the control the military industrial complex has on the American legislature and Executive branch. We should only vote for candidates that promise to bring all our troops home, close all foreign bases and use ANY AND ALL TAX DOLLARS FOR DOMESTIC PURPOSES ONLY. JOBS CREATION, TAX CUTS FOR THE LOWER CLASSES, EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE AND SUSTAINABILITY SHOULD BE OUR PRIORITIES. In reality any legislatures that use our tax dollars for overseas ventures, to guarantee corporations access to cheap oil, are guilty of treason. Tax dollars are for the benefit of American taxpayers, not corporations and war profiteers. |

So just before the holiday weekend, the TSA lets it be known that they are not to blame for long lines and free feel-ups because they found a "record 65 guns in carry-on bags last week"? Watch for the future blogs of TSA whistle-blowers. Watch for them to refer to the Red Team. |

14. Not sure, but are you implying that this might explain the guns that were found.
Is there any way to know if the guns discovered were tests or not? Would tests be made public knowledge after the fact?

someone carrying it before checking it.....there were a lots of events perhaps someone did or didn't put it in a carrying case. Not everyone walks around with a 4-5 ft musket.

15. Another UPI story indicates that the Red Team that carries on guns, etc., to test TSA employees
may be Blackwater-type employees working for a contractor to create fictional threats.
"A-T Solutions is an anti- and counter-terrorism professional solutions firm and was awarded a $90 million contract for "Red Team" analysis by the U.S. Department of Defense Threat Reduction Agency's Operations and Nuclear Support Assessments Division."
http://www.upi.com/Business_News/Security-Industry/2012/05/30/Red-Team-terror-analysis-for-DTRA/UPI-37611338402697/ "We look forward to providing Red Team analysis of adversarial perspectives from across the global terrorism realm so that they may better identify, understand and prevent any vulnerability."
http://www.washingtonexec.com/2012/06/a-t-solutions-awarded-90-million-contract-to-support-dtra-vulnerability-assessments/ If you are flying this weekend and experience additional delays and free feel-ups, you can thank this guy, the president and CEO: ![]() |

No, Virginia. They aren't to blame for the number of "responsible gun owners" trying to sneak their guns in their carry on baggage!

19. It is a false equivalency to equate people who actually are responsible gun owners (including
millions of Democrats) with anyone who tries to sneak their guns in their carry-on baggage.
Millions of Democrats own firearms, including many on this board. When a Gallup poll was taken, here was the response: ![]() http://www.gallup.com/poll/20098/gun-ownership-use-america.aspx Do you have more current statistics? Anything to indicate that firearm ownership amongst Democrats has decreased? Do you have anything to indicate that any responsible gun-owning Democrats have ever tried to "sneak their guns in their carry on baggage"? |

Last edited Mon May 27, 2013, 01:51 AM - Edit history (1) is to reduce the fear of those who anticipate flying and are easily frightened.
A "record 65 guns in carry-on luggage" plus (a) 12 stun guns, (b) inert grenades, (c) realistic replicas, (d) razor blades, (e) ammunition, (f) "a lot of sharp pointy things," and (g) an unloaded musket? Not one underwear bomb? No matter, they can keep looking. Boo. |

Every poll I have seen on DU says about 50% of the members own a gun of some sort.

27. Who said anything about "gun-owning DEMOCRATS trying to sneak their guns in their carry on"?
............... other than YOU?!!!
And your poll results have nothing to do with the topic and show your intentional attempt at deception! The question is asking "GUN OWNERS" what they use their gun for (purpose) ........NOT percentage of gun ownership by party. What a hilarious and desperate "straw man/red herring"! Does that ever work for you? Because it's so transparent! ![]() Quite off topic as well! ![]() PS - I really believe that you're a Democrat. Nobody makes things up like that on the internet! ![]() |

29. Someone posted a comment about "responsible gun owners." You did. The phrase
"responsible gun owners" inherently includes firearm-owning Democrats. That's obvious, unless you don't consider any Democrats to be "responsible gun owners."
Because of your sarcastic use of the phrase "responsible gun owners," you are apparently implying that gun owners, including Democrats who own firearms, are not responsbile gun owners. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Gallup poll otherwise shows that approximately 1/3 of Democrats either own firearms directly or live in a household where another member owns a firearm. You are not unaware of this: you said "you left out the chart where the vast majority of democrats do not own a gun." The chart illustrates the manner in which firearm-owning Democrats are "responsible gun owners." Millions of Democrats are "responsible gun owners." Get over it. |

32. The chart does not compute.
The chart shows 69% of Democrats vs only 64% of Republicans bought guns for protection?
The reality is, the conservative, Right of Center Republicans are more likely to be paranoid enough to buy a gun for protection. |
