Willie Nelson, Neil Young lend their talents to Keystone XL fight

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Joe Duggan

NELIGH, Neb. — Music legends Willie Nelson and Neil Young delivered Saturday on a promise to comfort opponents of the Keystone XL pipeline while also pleasing a few project supporters who ventured into a crowded Nebraska farm field.

A familiar duo in the Farm Aid series of benefit concerts, Nelson and Young teamed up to give a musical assist to pipeline fighters. They performed just one number together, incorporating a few anti-pipeline verses into the folk anthem “This Land Is Your Land.”

“That tar-sand oil ain’t good for drinking,” Young sang.

Even those who didn’t sing along as the chorus railed against new fossil fuel development and corporate influence said the concert offered an all-around good vibe.

I thought that they were saying that Willie and or Neil had to have some skin in the game other than a love of mother earth. LOL

If I wasn't so afraid of needles I'd probably mainline the java

2 crossed guitars, w/ the words:
"THESE MACHINES STOP PIPELINES"

Was it Woody Guthrie's guitar which had the words "This machine kills fascists?"

I love the look on their faces in this post.

I have always appreciated how Willie uses his place in the public eye to do something positive for the planet and hard working people. He and Neil have done so much for farmers over the years.

The people of Nebraska love their land! Always remember, was Willie Nelson & the good people of Nebraska who helped in a major way with the 'Nebraska 200' disaster.

It's hard to imagine there are only 2!! large properties holding up the pipeline build in the Nebraska Courts.

Two? Nebraska landowners who don't want to have the pipeline go through their land, don't want to accept the "eminent domain" money.

All the States the pipeline goes through aren't on the good guy 'side' either. Most of the states have already laid the pipe.

All the State Govs, want tar-sludge piped over the USA, refined in the USA and the product exported to other countries.

I very much doubt the courts will rule against an eminent domain case. Perhaps the good guys can drag out the case for 20 years!

I'm not sure if the Federal gov (President Obama) can even refuse to approve the 'proper permits' .

I wish someone would go over those permits, there is a long history of Corps fudging permit information just to get approved.

Been that way forever. Though Obama is trying to use the carbon limits on that refinery that wants to process the toxic tar sands 'crude'. wish those pipeline states would say no! but not one of the states has.

Look at the people in our Federal agencies like Salazar, tasked with 'managing' OUR Federal resources . We finally get Salazar the slaughtertzar to resign and he runs off to Lobby for his Oil Corps buddies. And another oil loving person gets his position.
