"On June 15th, 1968, Ricky volunteered to pack his platoon’s radio. They were involved in an operation in Quan Tri province, near Khe Sahn. At some point that day, Ricky’s unit was attacked. Ricky took rounds to the head and body. They did manage to get him back to a mash unit where he passed away. It was the day before my 16th birthday."
