Lots of post-9/11 agitation still there, of course.

Of course being a Trekker allows the insider elements to resonate with me but it isn't necessary.

I also refuse to equate every blown up building with 9/11.

It simply is illogical.

BTW, did you ?

I heard a lot of sniffs and attempts to hold it in.

Didn't , but would love to have a spoiler-y discussion here, since I thought certain subplot elements about Federation militarism, etc., could have been interestingly expanded, as well as the introduction of a certain off-planet element, etc....
