Laura Ingram Cautions Tea Party About 'Resting On Victim Status.' SRSLY?

She then goes on to caution dogs about licking up their own vomit. Good luck with that.

Ever heard of the Hedonic Treadmill? It refers to the phenomenon of being unhappy, attributing it to a lack of STUFF, going out to get more, and finding that you're STILL unhappy after you've got more stuff. Let's face it. White middle class suburban Americans, born between 1940 and 1960 hit the Powerball Lottery Jackpot of History. We were the most spoiled, most privileged generation ever! But somehow, having all that stuff didn't make us happy. Being spoiled rarely does.

The Tea Party was all about giving members of THAT EXACT DEMOGRAPHIC a rationalization for their resentment and unhappiness; and an EXCUSE to whine about being 'victimized.'

Victimized by whom? It doesn't really matter....I don't know....victimized by having to PAY for all the stuff we get (ie-TAXES in exchange for a wide range of govt. services and protection)? Victimized by poor people on food stamps, or migrant latino farm workers working for two bits an hour? Victimized by the big bad old gubmint telling us what we can and can't do (the middle aged variation of resenting your father as an 'authority figure' when he told you to mow the lawn when you were 8 years old, or turn that stupid music down when you were 15)?

Face it, Laura....you CAN'T HAVE a Tea Party movement without victim status, or cranky, ignorant, obese, polyester-clad imbeciles in funny hats saying stupid things.

Dear Dr. Frankenstein, you BUILT this monster. You OWN it!

3. Hah! Nice one. The GOP's reaction to the astroturfed Tea Party 'movement' has always reminded me

more of the look on Gene Wilder's face in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. You know, when the monster breaks its chains, and he has to start flattering it instead of running away from it.

Born at the ass end of 1959 I kinda fit into THAT EXACT DEMOGRAPHIC. I grew up with, or at least, at the same time as these...people, and yet I can't understand them. How can the same cultural stimuli produce such different results? But these are the people who spawned Forrest Gump, that most self stroking rewrite of American history in American history. The generational infomercial that said "we didn't suck, just weird stuff happened as we were standing there minding our own business".
I don't really care if you insist on self-delusional bullshit, just don't get angry with me for declining to overdose on your bullshit.

I would like to point out something to all the people fighting taxes. Paying the highest cost for something doesn't always mean you'll get the highest quality; Paying the absolute least, guarantees the least quality.

5. On the other hand, this IRS 'scandal' that's re-energized the Tea Party 'movement' is good on two

levels.

1. It will energize these people to go out and start protesting again, and talking to TV cameras. The more they do that, the more unpopular they get. No establishment Republicans can stop that. and,

2. It will draw attention to the fact that all those Tea Party groups that got tax exempt status SHOULDN'T have. If it causes them to review Rove's CROSSROADS GPS, and send him a bill for 30% of that $300 000 000 he raised from a handful of plutocrats...heck that's $90 000 000 that can be plowed back into the country's infrastructure and schools.
