09/08/14 - "Is It Immoral to Watch the Super Bowl?" That was the title of a 2014 essay in the New York Times Magazine written by journalist, author and former sports reporter, Steve Almond. Join us for Monday’s Topical Currents when we visit with Almond who takes on one of America’s favorite pastimes and most sacred cows in his latest book, Against Football: One Fan’s Reluctant Manifesto.

A lifelong fan, Almond argues that by participating in football culture, we are complicit in the damage it wreaks even as it “legitimizes and even fosters within us a tolerance for violence, greed, racism, and homophobia.”
