A few more high profile endorsements like this (if he actually ends up endorsing him) will help Johnson get up to 15% in the polls putting Johnson in the debates. Could give Democrats a huge number of states compared to in the past.

Counting on a third party candidate to help the democrats makes it sound like the democrats need the help of a third party because their message and candidate aren't strong enough to carry the general on their own merits.

Seems odd to me. He's not Gingrich, or Graham, or McCain, or H.W. Bush, or even W. Bush. To my knowledge he has no "special" standing in the GOP that would justify his opinion being considered important. Even in 2012 it seemed Republicans largely only supported him because he wasn't Barack Obama more than anything else.
