(3,048 posts)Unlike today when they'd all vote "no". I forget where I heard it a few days ago, but someone said that the Founding Fathers foresaw someone like Trump, which is why they put in a way to remove a rogue president. What they unfortunately did NOT foresee was a complacent Congress.
From what I understand, this vote is what did it for Nixon. Before it was taken, some of the Republicans came to him and simply told him they couldn't support him anymore. This was the nail in the coffin.

Did they regret it? They knew (then) that they were on the wrong side of history. I wonder what they thought
