(5,106 posts)All the guests were superb. Malcolm Nance is always great, and Steve Schmidt is the kind of sane Republican I grew up with. My mom was an active Democrat in my (very Republican) hometown. She met and coordinated the appearance of JFK when he was barnstorming in 1960, and I signed up the "Kennedy Girls" from school...they all wanted the hat and sash despite their Nixon supporting parents. My parents always voted for our Republican local state senator, because he was a really good guy. That's the way things USED TO BE in politics. Steve Schmidt gets a bum rap due to the Sarah Palin thing, which wasn't his fault. Democrats often get whimpy with trying to be fair. (No, don't keep "going high," as Repugs get lower).

Facebook Geeks have not the background in humanities or law, nor the wisdom that comes with age, to be running that company, IMO.

(51,432 posts)and had to stop watching to calm down. That idiot is so fucking biased I wanted to throw my tablet at the wall. If I sat next to her I would've felt like wringing her neck. I don't know how the other three were able to control themselves around her.

(51,432 posts)That part scared Bill, you could see it on his face. It scared me too and then when I watched Malcolm Nance later I applied what she had said to what he was saying. He seems to think that as long as we vote we have a real chance at beating the RW. The author/historian seems to think that the damage has already been done to the the constitution and the country, especially with the SCOTUS.

(13,564 posts)....the computer that tallies the vote counts. But we have known that since 2004, in spades. And yet states are still using electronic voting machines that send precinct tallies to the state computer. Paper ballots, hand counted, are the only remedy. But how do we force that? What does it take to ask for U.N. monitors for the states?

(51,432 posts)This was mentioned in in Overtime. Since 1964 laws have been made that have enabled a minority to win by the Electoral College instead of Popular Vote. The SCOTUS is out of step since Bush and tRump put people on the court when they weren't fairly elected. Until we change voter laws it will continue, but how do we change laws if we don't win due to the attack on our voting system? It is a frustrating "catch 22".

(13,564 posts)...to set things straight. If Dems flip Congress in 2018, change the makeup by allowing D.C. and Puerto Rico to become states. That's four more Dem senators! Encourage California to split into three Dem controlled states! (Four more senators) If we control Congress, run the table. Change the laws regarding filibuster and more. And if we win the White House in 2020, the makeup of the SC could be changed. A president has the power to add more justices. So add three more, liberal. No more cooperation. No more tolerance. No more concensus and bipartisanship. We are in the fight for our very existence as a country and have allowed too much to happen that led to this mess.

(9,696 posts)And their are red areas in California so it's not even a given that all 4 senators would be dems.
Let the repubs play the "stack the numbers" game.
