So I'm on my way home from work, I approach the intersection just as the stoplight turns yellow. There's one oncoming car. He isn't slowing down to stop for the light that is about to turn red, but he isn't speeding up to beat it, either. I'm now standing in the intersection with my blinker on, not yet turning just in case the other guy does something stupid. The light turns red. The other guy is still ten yards away from the intersection and he still hasn't changed speed. He just sails right through the intersection, a full second after the light turned! It wasn't even close! What a dumbass. But since I'm already in the intersection, I can finish my turn now, even though the light has turned. Not so fast, here comes a car from the right! He has the green now, and having waited for the that first idiot to run the red light, he decides he isn't going to wait for me to finish my turn. He drives around in front of me, making a left turn as he does so (ending up going back the way I had come from, or following the guy who ran the red light). Another dumbass! Finally, the intersection is clear, and I can complete my left turn, after my light had been red for between 5 and 10 seconds.
Wouldn't be surprised if they were both Republicans.

(41,694 posts)I had about 8 in a three block stretch.
I love people who wait until the last second to decide to make a left turn against oncoming rush hour traffic. Three of which could have turned one block before at a protected left turn light and made a right at the next corner to get on the street they hung up traffic for.

(5,364 posts)Their attitude is "screw you, me first, get out of my way". Anecdotal, mind you, but I've noted that the 3 most conservative people I know ( my father, one co-worker, one friend ) are the most aggressive, un courteous drivers I've ever seen. One ( the co-worker ) actually admits that he deliberately refuses to use directional signals because not letting the other driver of his intentions gives him "power" over them.
Slimeballs.
